Lulu.com down?

Is anyone else having issues connecting to Lulu.com's website? I've not been able to connect to their site since Thursday evening... I can see their support page, but can't log in to leave any messages there either. If someone could let me know if it's just my problem or something others are having issues with I would appreciate it! I've tried another computer and emptying my cache, so I doubt it's just me... but checking. Thanks!

This is Big Closet

This is Big Closet: Top Shelf This is not any other website. I think that it would be good to remember that and that it is in poor style to discuss other websites on this site or to discuss this site on others, especially to gripe, complain, and be a general bitch about things.

So, I'm Back In!

But why punish the innocent for the transgressions of a few? Why not just block them, forever if you like, and leave the rest of us be? I appreciate that it may be that I just don't understand what's going on. So, feel free to enlighten me, Erin or anyone else that cares to!

Yours from the Great White North,

Jenny Grier (Mrs.)

Erin's Extended Vacation...

Just an FYI...

Erin is still home, but she is currently without internet acces. She's trying to figure the problem out herself, but the soonest her internet provider can get a tech out is Tuesday.

She will peek in on us from time to time via her cell, and various wifi hotspots when out and about, but let's PLEASE keep up our good record and leave the place mostly in tact for when she gets back online again.

Sorry for the restarts last night...

For those of you that have been heavy on the site last night and this morning, may have notice an inordinately large amount of what I'll call "Small/Micro Outages". I've been working on tweaking the server all night hoping to reduce the load and fix a few small recurring errors. I did sleep for a couple hours, but basically since about midnight last night I've been "fixing, testing, restarting" in what felt like an endless cycle.

Is Big Closet an E-mail site

Today I just got the transcript of when the detective interviewed me for not registering my email accounts (long story that I am not going to go into). I notice several point of contentions. One is the existence of emails that I haven't used for 15 years and are most likely inactive (like my yahoo account from 2002). I stated several times in the interview that I did not use them (I didn't mention was that the last time I did use them was prior to me having to register them).

23 million hits!

I've just noticed on the hit counter at the bottom of the page that we've now exceeded 23 million hits (plus an extra 9,000) since 16th June 2005. Yay us! :D

That works out at about 3 ¼ million hits per year, nearly 9,000 hits per day, 370 hits per hour or 6 hits per minute (have I ever mentioned I like playing around in spreadsheets?)

Marital Equity

Conservative Right get something correct, for once.

Suze Orman Is a economic expert from Chicago and one of her expertises is women and their money.

Suze Orman show today on CNBC News channel, had a long feature on the Money worries of gay and to a lesser extent "other" marriages. I think if you are going to have a life partner type of relationship or have one, you need to see this...

(Maybe some thing for USA only but good advice for most)

Coming soon, honest...

It's been a while, I know. Unfortunately, that's how life has been for far too long now. I have about 6,000 words written of the next chapter and the rest planned out ages ago. So why is it not up yet?

Interesting article at npr.org on children and gender

Interesting article on NPR "Can Children Know, At Age 2, They Were Born The 'Wrong Sex'?"

http://www.npr.org/blogs/13.7/2012/05/24/153285061/can-child...

It refers to a longer article in the washington post on "Transgender at five". That one is a very intersting story that could just as easily show up here. Hope all goes well for the little kid.

FBI grabs server, then returns, internet privacy violated?

http://redtape.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/05/11/11647813-the-f...

This is plain weird and a bit scary too. The FBI siezed a server dedicated to helping create a safe, anonymous communication environment for folks in other countries seeking a better life, according to the owners of the server. See what you think? Are they right to suspect the returned server has been interferred with or are they paranoid? Should they be able to take the server through the claim of national security or terrorism?

Alternating Gender Incongruity (AGI)

Here's a new syndrome that some might find interesting.

Althernating Gender Incongruity (AGI)
Some people appear to switch gender identities spontaneously. Although I know nobody who has this condition, it is something of which we should all be aware.

Buttons

Everyone's button count has been removed. We aren't ready to release the new "product" yet and we said this could and would happen. In fact I want to let everyone know that it WILL happen again, when the system goes live, in order for everyone to start on an even footing.

Computer problems and Wild Magic

I have two primary computers, both desaktops, a fairly new E-machine and a custom built unit. For some reason they both simply shut down, and will not restart. I'm no computer expert, but fortunately I recently bought an older Gateway laptop on e-bay.

It's no super machine, but at least I'm online. Unfortunately, all my story notes are on my desktop. I'm still working on it-Luckily I was working on an outline for the next chapter while I waited for my kids, so that's on paper. I'll have a chapter up soon.

Today? Uhhhh...maybe?

Hoping to post Chapter 8 of Reckoning

by Saturday, Sunday at the latest. I've had a computer failure of my MacBook which required taking it to the repair place for surgery. Apparently we experienced a power surge which attacked the inverter, which is in the hinge where it opens, and also burned out the LCD, which lights the screen.

Approximately 200 dollars or so later, I might have it back by Friday. I've been using my old desktop, which I fortunately never got around to taking down and storing away. ALL the relevant info I need to post the story is, of course, on the Mac.

Computer issues, BCTS, and viruses

We all have them. Lately I've been getting lag. I usually do a scan about once a month, more if I need it.

Having had a sex starved teen I have had the chance to get lots of experience fixing various problems. After a while I made him fix his various problems, and kept him off my machine. Anyone who has a kid knows how well that works, they usually do what they want to, and deal with the consequences later.

Mine learned quite early I could access the cache through the house network. It saved me a lot of issues, though I don't think he was impressed.

He speaks of floppy discs

Dear wife cleaned out the room her mother lived in till she died in October 2010. While doing so she found a plug in floppy disc drive. I had a laptop over a decade ago without a floppy drive and I used the contraption. Until Sunday I thought the thing had been thrown out but it wasn't. Now I'll throw it out.

The other hidden treasure Dear Wife found was almost twenty three dollars in small change.

Password Attacks?

It used to be that my internet passwords were simple, something easy to remember. After being victimised by unknown people in the last couple of years, I now have a book where I record my passwords, but in the last few days, something seems to be happening with several of my accounts. It is almost as if someone has gotten into some of my accounts and destroyed their password files, because accounts like Facebook, and several others, my passwords have stopped working.

Custom Book/eBook Covers

Hi Everybody,
I know i posted this before, but it's been a few months, and I felt it time to re-post this note.

Some of you may know, but other's probably don't, that I've been making book covers for not only my own, but other people's stories.

I make these using Stock Art purchased or found freely (royalty free archives) off the internet.

What Lies Beyond Twilight was done a while back, and is a little cluttered, but has nice pop/visual and I decided it needed showing.

No, My Thing Isn't Broken...

Online translators are rarely perfect when they translate sentences from one language to another, but most times they at least approximate what you intended to say.   Sometimes, though, they don't even come close.

Aunt Andrea sent a comment recently and she said, in Filipino, "pumalya inyo."
http://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/blog/34843/family-girl-blog-32...

Anyway, I talked to Tintin, my assistant here, and asked what that meant.   She said it meant, "your thing is broken."

Huh?

Marker on my screen

So, some of the stories here are really long and I can't read them in one setting, so I have been using a marker to mark the position of the slide thingie before I shut down for the night. Before you all laugh at me, how else can I do it? It is really troublesome to find my place again when I come back on line.

I am worried about getting the marks off my screen.

Is there some sort of book mark thingie I can use so I can come back to the right place?

Thank you.

Gwendolyn

If you have read my stories you will notice that I have a wee bit of an obsession for short skirts and socks (otherwise school uniform). I stumbled upon this pic whilst browsing the web and i thought it was really cute so i thought i'd share it with all of you! :)

I can safely say that last night was filled with experiences! Haha. Thursday nights are college nights in Ireland so we all went out on the town to get highly intoxicated (as you do).

Koff, koff, meh.

Why does everything always happen at the same time? I've had this cold for well over a week now, and it's so bad I can cough in my sleep, often without waking. It's also worked it's way down into my chest, and up into my sinuses...

So the bad weather happens just about now as well, and to top it all I just accidentally trashed one of my servers... twice.
