This was my offering to the 2009 Gabycon. It's a bit longer than usual and features several bike races on a velodrome - an indoor track for bike racing. I hope you enjoy.

I'm curious...
how this borrowed bike idea works. Are clipless pedals and cleats standardised these days? Interchangeable between riders? Last I looked, which was admittedly a long time go, there were many types of pedals and cleats and they had to be matched, indeed many were designed to recess within the sole of the shoe, so that one's shoes were tied to a particular bike and its pedal technology.

Shoes can be borrowed
at the velodrome, which obviously have suitable cleats fitted. In addition to cleats, the shoes are usually strapped to the pedals as well, which is why riders are 'caught' by their coaches as they come off after a race.

The Beauty and the Beast.
Is a wonferful addition to the Gabyverse. I just wonder one thing, though, where exactly does it fit into the timeline?

Angharad, if you aren't a professional writer, you should be sweetheart. You are simply amazing!
You have done over 700 chapters of 'Falling Off a Bike', this peice and countless others more, seemingly at the same time, it seems. I feel really humbled at your works.
You made me realize I'm not a dedicated writer. I love to write, but you really put me in my place.
Keep up the excellant work Angharad.
I did notice a professional writer that wrote a few large movie scripts, called Angharad, that isn't you by chance, is it?

there are at least 3 types I know of and different types of racers seem to prefer different types. I use SPD type on my road bike but i don't think that's typical
Quite a Nice....
little presentation for GabyCon... Wish I could have been there to have gotten hold of it way back then... (And gotten to meet you as well.) It's always nice to see an "underdog" win. :-)
Thanks,
Annette
I loved this tale. I'm
I loved this tale. I'm curious as to drew/gab's, um, development and when the denial stage will end. Will anger and acceptance follow? I look forward to your exploration of that, if that's where WN or BatB will go. If not, well, the stories are still wonderful. ü
