I know I'll never find another you.

Hey there, Georgie boy...
Blogging on the web so fancy-free;
No one can ever see
The heartbreak inside you there.

Hey there, Georgie boy...
Why do you let life pass you by;
could it be your fear to try
on all of those clothes you'd wear?

You're always fiction writing,
but still you're fighting your heart.
Come now and make yourself a new start;
a brand new start!

Hey there, Georgie boy...
There's another Georgie deep inside.
Bring out all the girl you hide and
Oh what a change there'd be;
The world would see a new Georgie girl!

Don't be so scared of living,
and not forgiving yourself;
it's time your wife learned about Top Shelf!
(another self)*

Hey there, Georgie boy...
Dreamin' of the woman you could be.
Life is so much better,
you can't always hide away!

Hey there, Georgie boy...
hoping that the girl inside will be
finally set free
because it's a brand new day!

Don't be so scared of living,
and not forgiving yourself.
It's time you told her you write at Top Shelf
(your other self)

Hey there, Georgie boy...
There's another Georgie deep inside
Bring out all the girl you hide and
Oh, what a change there'd be;
The world would see a new Georgie girl!

*This is a reprise. It's been ten years since Mrs. D discovered 'drea. I was reminded of that blessing when Judith Durham passed away recently and all the tributes to The Seekers and their wonderful music poured in. It was especially bitter sweet to hear their hit, I know I'll Never Find Another You, which Tracey loved. My deepest appreciation for the love you all have shown me. Thank you!

Georgie Girl

The first time reading for me, thanks for reposting it

Those Songs

Still classics, brought tears to my eyes.

Now I got that damn whistling stuck in my head

But it was worth it. Oddly your lyrics reflect how I interpreted the original song at the age of 13 (minus the part about writing online TG fiction) but on a mostly subconscious level. It seemed to be speaking to me, and I wasn't why it made me feel the way it did but I liked its happy sweet vibe. 2 years later I would have considered this song vapid bubblegum; but it caught me before my angsty pretentious Henry-Miller-reading teenage intellectual phase; which as I approach 70 I'm finally coming out of and embracing my inner Georgie Girl, bippity-bobbing thru Picadilly in my fringed do, face by Mary Quant and plastic go-go boots. Your dedications moved me, especially the last one.

Thank you for this wonderful reminder of just how much Georgie Girl spoke to me (and many of us I'm sure).My big sister was a fan of the Seekers, so I grew up singing their songs.
Try explaining to a five year old why (s)he can't have a hairband like her friends.
Your third dedication moved me to the core. My Sarah and I are both sitting here sobbing on your behalf.
Hugs

what a long strange trip its been."

I did not even realize she had died :(

I grew up in my childhood with their music and I am greatly saddened about her death.

Small solace, but I ordered autographed sets of their work years ago when they were on their 'last call' tours were going on.

She was only 79 though.

To me 79 is still a bit early to pass on.

Anyway, it is such a waste that she and the rest of her group did not perform for 25 years before their reunion in 1993.

I know a lot of people are saying 'Judith who?' but I would trade pretty much any current day autotuned to hell hussy I can find on iTunes singer for her quality of singing.
