Well done Edeyn!
Glad to see I'm not the only one here writing poetry.
And I am very glad to see that you are willing to write about darker subjects. I find them sometimes the most evocative, even in my own writing.
Thank you for sharing this with us.

Dark Poetry
Seems to be nearly all the poetry I write. It seems my more poetic moments come when I'm in anguish, or depressed.

Wasn't it Jim Henson who said, "Without faith, I am nothing," after all? Wait, no, that was God. Sorry, common mistake...
Should I post more?
Not just a question for you, Kate, but anyone really... should I post some more of my poetry?

Dark can be good for you, like dark chocolate is good for the ..
heart.
Dark poem indeed. I can't remember who said something like "Writing is easy, I just open a vein."
I hope your happy moments are as memorable or more so, this was bleak, but good.

John in Wauwatosa
She
She treads sure-footed
through the unforgiving terrain
of free verse, establishing her own cadence
evoking powerful
even unpleasant imagery
revealing,
always revealing...
honesty not born of hostility
or some gimmickry of ego
but as needed to live
for real and unco-opted
A transponder in the dark
alien device and yes we've seen this,
or so we surmise until- WOW! IT'S EDEYN!
Like a swiss army knife that opens up into a field of flowers...
In other words I really really liked it and would LOVE to see more!
Not because it's dark---some fixation there---but because it's a part
of reality & you portray it so well. I'd love to see the happy poems too
(and if you haven't written them yet, I'm pretty sure you've got them in you...).
