My Treasure

My Treasure

When you were first held
when they saw you there
the first time you smiled
what a joy to behold!
I wish I'd been there.

I close my eyes that I might look into yours;

even though we dwell so far apart.

You have become just like my child to me

because you've come to captivate my heart.

I close my eyes that I might listen to you speak;

even though I've never heard your voice.

You are just like my daughter to me

and knowing you has made my heart rejoice!

You are a treasure, a treasure to me;

as if you're one of mine, my very own.

I never had the pleasure of seeing your life

yet like my child, I see how much you've grown

You are a treasure, a treasure to me;

as if you're one of mine, my heart can't hide.

I never had the pleasure of holding your hand;

but like my own, I'm filled with joy and pride.

How could anyone not see the beauty in you?

How could they not know who you would be?

How could they not envision the joy you'd become;

When here and now I know it's plain to see?

You are a treasure, a treasure to me;

just like my very own, so joyously!

You are my treasure, beyond any measure to me;

more than anyone could hope you'd ever be!

You are a treasure, a treasure to me;

even though we're miles and miles apart.

You are a treasure, it's true;

Again I say to you...

My treasure come to captivate my heart!
