Eye of the Beholder

Blood grows cold,
Feelings warm.
Flesh grows old,
Soul reborn.
One day dies,
Another morn.
Ugly lies,
Beauty suborn.
Soulless eyes,
Pain adorn.
Hopeless ties,
Life forlorn.
Desolate skies,
Land storm torn.
Hope’s demise,
Oblivion.

Despair
It started out with the even lines optimistically replying to the negative images, but halfway through the outlook darkened. I hope you are managing to keep your outlook bright.
Wow!
That is a really good poem, and so short.
The poem makes me think first of biosphere annihilation, a major extinction event. I guess I worry about that. The Earth and Life will survive, complex forms will re-evolve.
More obviously, it sounds like suicide, or just death.

The thing about poetry is
The thing about poetry is that it is a heightened form of writing, that says more with fewer words. This poem is very compact, with no unnecessary words, and this makes it very strong and impactful. This is one of the best pieces I have seen written anywhere. Brilliant! Well done!!
