A couple of weeks ago, Grover told you about our Delta and having to say goodbye to her. Well, there is hopefully going to be a new addition to our family. I have been going through depressive bouts, and Grover has been kind enough to encourage both of us to adopt a new pet.
Please keep your fingers, toes, eyes, and whatever else crossed so we may have good luck in adopting a new family member. We should have more info before the end of next week.

Our 14 year old pooch is not long for the world. *sighs* She seems to rally for a few days, and then fall back further then rally, but not quite to the same... This stepwise failing is pretty hard on all of us. Add that to her stress over what's going on with me. (She's an amazingly accepting spouse - you two are wonderful women!)
We've also talked about what we're going to do after our "Princess" dies. We have loved our two Samoyeds. They've been WONDERFUL pets, but when they "end" it has been horrible. Sorry, you don't need to hear that.
I wish you both the best, and wish you well with the forthcoming addition to your family.

I was very sorry to hear about Delta. I lost my 15-year-old dachshund decades ago and still haven't managed to bring myself to find another furry companion.
I wish you good luck finding another little one. He or she won't replace Delta but I'm sure there'll be enough love to go around.

Whatever your fancy when it comes to selecting a pet it is only a matter of time when that pet of yours worms its way into your heart. I lost a bird to cancer a few years ago and decided I would not get another pet as I could have the freedom of travel. The emptiness in my apartment was horrendous, I succombed to the silence and soon had a new bird. She is not at all like the last bird, different personality but she has wormed her way into my heart. I then bought a house and decided I would like to have another pet.
I got a small black kitten that was always near my feet, I caller her shadow. she was my first cat ever. Unfortunately she got into an easy chairs working mechanism and and I lost my new kitten.
I was devastated and did not want another cat. Two months later a friend gave me a tuxedo kitten. Frisky weighs around nine pounds and whens she runs through the house she shounds like a horse.
The loss of a pet leaves a gap. The pet we find to fill that void will worm its way into our hearts and become a member of the family.
When I lost my bird I was heartbroken, cried like a baby and had someone tell be "its only a bird for crying out loud." My reply was if you lost your child would you like it if I told you "its a only a chid for Petes sake."
My point is that our pets provide for us a purpose. We take care of them, we groom them, and we become attached to them as a family member.
Enjoy your new pet when you get him or her, he or she will be a welcomed new comer to a loving famiy.

A New Grrrl
In a comment about Grover and family's lost of Delta, I told how my partner and I had lost Rocky, our 14 YO husky mix, in April.
Today we just picked up Peggy Sue (we didn't name her) a 1.5 YO pit bull-cattle dog mix, from the same cat and dog rescue organization from which we got Magic, our black lab mix grrl 10 years ago. Peggy Sue is getting along with Magic and our older grrls just fine.
