If your main purpose in making a comment is to belittle, insult or otherwise attack someone else's opinion, remember that I generally unpublish such comments. There's no political agenda involved in doing this, generally it happens on threads with no political content at all. And when there is politics involved, the side of the political fence that throws the first brickbat is the side that gets its post unpubbed.

All I have to go on is my own abilities in these things so I do make mistakes. Just because I unpub your comment doesn't mean that I'm upset or even that I disagree with you. It just means that in my judgement, your comment was personally aimed and likely to be inflammatory.

That's the policy here and there are good and sufficient reasons for it that I have discussed elsewhere.

Please be civil and I can continue to allow more political discussion than I could during the heated climate last year. Thanks.

Hugs to all,
Erin

I Miss All The Fun!

Would someone write to me privately and tell me all about whatever hoo-hah I missed this time? I hate feeling left out!

Hey, I'm cool with that!

If I want conflict I've got a place to hang out where I can trade not so gentle jabs with a neo nazi I fondly refer to as Lampshade.

I'll let you figure out the reasons for that name on your own.

I rather like the lack of open conflict here.

So, if I say that the "O"

So, if I say that the "O" man was the worst thing that could have happened to your country, you'll allow my comment to stay? :p

BTW, I have nothing against the man as a man, I just think he's damned stupid to let his party start a trade war with Canada.

The "Beauty" Of The American System Of Government

The prior 8 years was actually a bit of an aberration in American politics. Our parties do not typically operate on principles of unity. We have three separate and co-equal branches of government. (The President and his Administration; the Congress, consisting of a House and a Senate; and the Supreme Court.) Unlike parliamentary systems, our leader, the President, is not the leader of Congress, which is free to go off in whatever direction has the most lucre, shiny objects, or personal power. And far too often, thanks to our bizarre electoral system and ethics standards you could drive a Brinks truck full of campaign money through, lobbyists for major corporate interests seem to have more control than either the People or the President.

The Republican agenda under the prior Administration was to try to solidify power and establish themselves as a permanent majority, with the extra powers and leverage of a wartime footing, a compliant Press, and lots of chauvinist/fascist* language, a rabid pro-Government stance they've quickly forgotten since they lost the election. But, you'd be forgiven for looking at the way they worked together for thinking the President was in control of his party's members in Congress.

As for the the party currently in power, early 20th Century humorist, Will Rogers, famously said, "I am not a member of any organized party -- I am a Democrat."
