I just tried to search by author, the author quick list, and it doesn't actually pull up any stories, it just sits there. So it apparently isn't connected to the story listing server yet.

And the comments on them. There do seem to be a few bugs, though, it would not let me login.

I Was Also Successful
I used Author quick list to bring up Ricky's stories and Marianne Wright's.
This is encouraging.

I tried several authors from the quick list, and not only does nothing happen, I was unable to locate Erin on the lists. I checked EH and JM both.
So far, I haven't hit on too
So far, I haven't hit on too many bugs. I've been able to get comments to display, although the story title at the top of the page is "DataBase Error" ... but comments display fine.
Author quick search seems to work. Maybe not all the authors are there, I'm not sure about that.
Hyperboard is back.
The only big problem I saw is that on the fictionmania.tv page there's no adult content warning, or a link letting you enter into the site.
Read error
I found that the link to the site worked fine. Getting to an authors name and stories was almost immediately achieved. I have never seen it that fast before. I did have one problem. When clicking on ST for Read View of the story, I got an http error 404 code. I tried a number of other authors and they all did the same thing.

Might have had something to do with my browser. I was using an older version of Firefox, but downloaded the latest and greatest last night. Took a look this morning and it seems to be working better.

So I gather that the task force is still getting things together. Still, it's good news. FM is on of the grand old dams of TG fiction. I'm glad to see that it's coming back.

I just checked it out; and, much to my joy, I found that all of Elrod's Bikini Beach (and Morphic Adaptation Unit) stories are once again available! When I first discovered Fictionmania, this series quickly became one of my all-time favorite settings! While Top Shelf and a couple of other sites (including Crystal's) have carried a small handful of them; most of the classic tales were only available at FM and ElrodW's own site. Both sites went down last fall (first FM, then Elrod's); and I was afraid that those classic tales which were not available at surviving sites would be lost forever.
Thank goodness for whomever it is who has resurrected Fictionmania. I will once again check it out from time to time. However, I will NOT be abandoning Top Shelf, which I have found to be an even friendlier site and where I feel totally comfortable.

All the authors I tried seemed to work. A couple of the stories I clicked gave me a 404 error. What I did really notice was category searches. There should be a few with 2000 stories, but upon checking them out, all they showed was 492 for a count. Guess they haven't gotten everything loaded back yet. But at least they have done this much. Again, thanks to all involved. I'm sure you will get the gremlins out.

I must admit that some of the ... less than generous statements on both sides made me doubt, but I am glad it's back. Hey it was the first place I posted anything. It would have been a big loss if that huge archive had folded. But on a personal level the loss of the comments on my stuff would have bothered me most. They're like gold in a sense. I have the stories, but the comments....
A few little buggie bits and all should be well, now if all the egos can play nice it might even be what it was. Won't happen overnight though and BC is still the closest thing to a community, something I also doubt at times, but hey, glass half full and all that. May my optimism win out, this place is still the closest to great. All we have to do is recognise baggage and weight limits and it'll be smooth sailing, or flying or something...
