Several years ago, my dad nearly missed being there with my mom when her labor reached its peak, as he ran down to get his tax papers into the mail before the deadline. Ever since I've really been aware of taxes, I've celebrated Tax Day, trying to remember not to let paperwork get in the way of people, and trying not to be too disappointed when others do.

Odd sort of celebration, but...
I actually made enough writing this year to need to pay some taxes on it!
My regular job taxable income, plus my income from other sources (writing) ended up with me owing: $421. My regular job had held out $384, so I only owed $37 (which seeing as how I'm trying to save to move to Oz, could have been better used), but... um, yay?

The part of holding out money was a really hard lesson for me to learn, doing independent work, and is one I'm still paying for. >.< Still, you know that you've hit an important milestone! Congratulations, and good luck! :-)
