Vampire induced change?

Okay, I had an idea for a story, but it sounds too familiar, like I've read it somewhere before. If I have then obviously I don't want to go stealing another writer's idea. So here's the premise:

Vampires aren't created like the old stories. When there is a blood exchange the vampire's 'infected' blood actually produces a change in sex as well as all the extras that come with the legends. Call it a innate, natural, or DNA encoded defense mechanism, whatever. I haven't exactly worked that out yet.

Anyway, has a Vampire induced change been used before? I've already got a decent plot in my head, but it's just sounding too familiar. Any ideas?

Lili

Yep.....

About two months ago there was a story just like that, Young Tgirl runs away from home, Bunks down in a mansion that is owned by a child Vampyre etc etc etc

But, Now you know this make enough changes and write another Vampyre tg story, Can never have Enough Vampyre stories in my mind.

Fangs you

Edit: It was called "A thirst for change" by Amber-Willow

Thanks

I'll check it out. Thanks!

Years ago

The one I was thinking of was years ago, but I haven't read this one as of yet. I must go read it and see what's up. Thanx

Vampire stories

I recall two that I can't quite find or place.

The first is called The Peace Bringer, or something like that. A male character falls in love with a female vampire, who stays with him for too long and therefore drains some of his life force. She offers to turn him, which will restore him and make him immortal. Before that happens, her control-freak 'leader' (or whatever) tricks him and turns him -- into a female.

Apparently, the new vampire is always the opposite sex of the one who turned hir.

I don't recall who wrote it; just that it is one of the better (IMHO) authors. Alas, that story didn't keep my interest, so I didn't finish it.

The other is an incomplete series. A female vampire seduces and turns the male protagonist. The backstory is that vampires aren't necessarily bad, nor do they need to feast upon human blood. Unfortunately, there is another vampire species that preys upon the 'good' vampires; and our hero is destined (prophecy or whatever) to finally defeat the ancient evil.

I just thought of a third, but it isn't at all similar to your idea. It's called To Make a Wish by SaraUK. I think it's still available on BCTS, but it appears to have been abandoned. Too bad... I was really enjoying it.

I have read The Peace

I have read The Peace Bringer also, nor can I recall the author. There were 4 chapters to that story if I recall right which I did finish and found to be pretty good over all.

Peace Bringer

I wrote that one and have posted it at Sapphire's and it was up at the old big closet. But don't let that stop you from writing yours.

There's always room for more in any niche or genre.

That's it!

That's the one. I knew it wasn't an original idea. It was just way too familiar. Once I read the teaser, "When a Vampyri makes another, the new one, the fledgling, is always of the opposite sex to the maker," I knew it was it.

That was my idea, and now I know it wasn't an original one. I need to go back and read it to make sure that I don't do the same things or if it is so close to my plot that it's identical.

I know I could go ahead and write a story around this subject. I mean it's like saying the 'teen effeminate boy is tricked into wearing his sister's clothes' is a stolen idea.

I just got through watching 'Twilight' the other day and I guess it sparked a memory. "Oh, that would be a neat idea. What if..."

Okay, off to read some of it and see if it's what I envisioned!

Thanks all!!!

Okay

I read the first posting on the Old BC and feel comfortable enough to write something different, reasoning the change different. I also feel uncomfortable enough not to compare what I would write to Peace Bringer. I'm not at that level of experience as of yet. I doubt it would come close.

Maggie, yours is an actual story that could and most probably should be submitted to an actual major publisher if you haven't done so already. Bravissimo!

Now I must go jot my ideas down.

Thanks Maggie!

Oh yes,

Thanks Ray, even if you didn't care for Peace Bringer. It isn't something everyone would enjoy. Plus it's very, very long at around two hundred thousand words. *grin*

And just why is this a Bad Thingâ„¢? :D

When I was a kid, my preferences ran to short stories. Too many novels, I found, spent far too many pages on developing the background before they got around to the plot and characters (though not always—I once made the mistake of starting Slan by A. E. van Vogt on a school week afternoon, and did not finish until 6am the next morning, just in time to get ready for class).

Now, in my decrepitude ;), I enjoy nothing better than a thick, juicy novel; short stories (especially the best ones), though they still have their charm, seem to be over almost before they begin. Definite change in perspective, there (or is that called "attention span"? :D).

Vampire induced change? Definitely!

Maggie Finson has a massive novel on this subject. I don't think it's on this site, but it might be on Sapphire's. If not, ask Maggie herself. She's active on the Whateley website, since she writes Whateley characters, including Fey.

Why not have any changes be

really fun? Gender, body modifications, age change are just a few that can be done. Best of all, can be used for any Unseen changes.
