CBS reported this evening that at the direction of Pete Hegseth, the Department of Defense is upgrading the green room attached to the Pentagon briefing room. Understandably, facilities need to be upgraded periodically - even those used by the military.
However, the interesting thing about this report is that apparently we are paying $10,000 to $15,000 to upgrade the green room by adding a make up station - all at the suggestion of Tami Radabaugh,a former Fox News producer who works for Hegseth, and apparently approved by Hegseth’s wife - also a former Fox News producer.
Perhaps we should be a little more concerned with Hegseth’s habit of texting classified information over his phone, and a little less concerned with how he looks on TV.
In the military I served in, competence was much more important than looking good on TV. Yes, we always stressed proper uniform and grooming when not in a combat situation. Hell, I can remember conducting more than my fair share of inspections prior to those functions which required my troops to be in dress or dinner dress uniforms, but trust me, even that never required a $15,000 makeup station.
Not to mention the fact that the only makeup I ever used in the service was matte camouflage makeup during night operations to break up the shine from my face. And I managed to apply that without even using a mirror, lol.

My guess is that they had $15,000 in their budget that would be cut if they didn't use it. I'm told by a friend that served aboard the Enterprise that new toilet seats were billed out a $300/per.

My guess is that in an administration that claims to be……
Cutting costs, an incompetent, unqualified, former TV commentator who was appointed by the clown in the White House decided to appropriate $15,000 to make sure that he looked good. After all, in the infamous words of Fernando Lamas (and of course Billy Crystal!), “It’s better to look good than to feel good.”
The point here is twofold - first, if you are looking to cut costs you shouldn’t waste money on makeup for Hegseth, and second, a spokesperson for the Pentagon should be worried about more important things than pancake makeup.
This is just another example of the massively hypocritical actions of the current administration. $15,000 for makeup, but not a cent for medical research, or healthcare, or social security, etc., etc., etc.

However, it's not unique to the Trump administration. The difference is that Trump is blatant about. Past administrations have buried such things in miles of budget line items.
$15,000 for such a thing is ludicrous. I doubt that there's a movies studio or even a Broadway theater that spent that kind of money on a single make up room. and they are doing make up for far more than one person.
A professional make up artist, could do the job with a kitchen chair, a couple of bright lamps and a card table to set the make up case on.
Only the government could think $15,000 is a reasonable price tag for a make up room.

Only One Parade Dress Inspection
Funny every time a uniform inspection was announce, the plane and I were scheduled for a much needed, very important, cargo flight. One of the many benefits being married, by the military, to an airplane. As for Pete Hegseth, maybe the makeup room is for Trump also. This world is so messed up. That's coming from someone who is more intelligent than Trump and knows and understands transgender is one of God's creations.

Do they brief the military or the public there?
I used to give briefings to about 100 military and never thought of makeup.
I have a $20 folding mirror lit by batteries or a USB cable that I use now. A pro makeup artist shouldn’t need that extensive a setup. I remodeled both my bathrooms for less than that, although it was 20 years ago.
I’m more worried about him running an unsecured internet cable into a room where cell phones are not allowed so he can keep up on Signal, which he shouldn’t be using for official work anyway. His boss should take Hegseth’s prior advice and fire him and let DOJ prosecute him.
But that’s wishful thinking.
