Thanks for the explanation. It first seemed like a story jumping suddenly from meeting in person to a phone call. Then I saw the scrollbars, followed by the "Part 9" and "Part 8".

I take it that's a fancy-pansy novel-writing app?

It's a word processor called Scrivener, and it is fantastic for writing. It lets you catalog everything like characters, settings, etc. into folders, and you can have everything inside one project. It also allows you to open two different pieces simultaneously, so you can look at one for reference while writing.

But what I really like about it is no subscription.
