I'm nearly ready to post my continuation of Jeremy Chandler's "My Summer in Pantyhose." I've continued it to the 2nd week in September. While it obviously leaves the reader wanting more, the title limits the tale to the "summer," so it ends with just a glimpse of what may be to come.

My question is this: Would it benefit the readers for me to post a prologue; a synopsis of Jeremy's portion up to chapter 24, his last posting. The purpose would be to bring readers up to speed on what's gone on before. Or, should I simply encourage readers to go back and read or reread chapters 1 through 24.

Either way, my portion picks with a girl being rescued from an attempted date rape. Without some information about whats gone on the reader will be left wondering how did this happen.

So I leave it to you; prologue or no prologue?

I've not found and editor so everyone will have to put up with my self editing. We all know how that goes. Try as they will, an author never seems to be able to catch all of the problems.

Definitely a prologue.

I'm sure that I read the story when it was posted, but life gets in the way, and a "cheat notes"prologue would be a great help. I will probably reread the original too, but, sadly, tme is finite.

I would encourage the reader……

To go back and read the original story. As I have not done that, I will be doing so very soon! Whenever I stumble upon a new story, if there is in fact a precursor to it I always try to read it first - and having the author note that at the beginning of the new story is a huge benefit as it tells me where to go and warns me of the need to do so.

I'm writing the Prologue now. I have complete a summary of each chapter up to Chapter 11 and will continue to do so until Chapter 24, Jeremy's last post.

Here's the opening statement prior to those summaries:

My Summer in Pantyhose Prologue
By Patrica Marie Allen

Having completed Jeremy Chandler’s series, “My Summer in Pantyhose” I’m ready to post. I hope to post twice a week; Tuesdays and Thursdays. The purpose of this post is to bring everyone up to speed as to what’s happened prior to when I took up the story.

That said, I encourage you read or reread the original work by Jeremy Chandler found here.

Hugs
Patricia
