It Works for Me

Just now. There's a Tuck Notes update from 2/22/09. She says:

Desperate straits indeed.

At this moment, the phone bill is in extreme arrears, and is cut off. I have a Tuck episode needing only final polishing before I post it, and I can't post it.

Ellen's DISTRESS!!!!!

At least as of the 22nd of February, it seems Ellen was alive and suffering with a visitation from the deamon NOBUCKS!!
This is slightly reassureing, but still of concern.

While everybody seems to be getting such visitations, Is it possible for anyone to keep an actual physical "eye" on Ellen?

She is quite more receptive than most to the ill effects of this.

In the long ago past, She let it be known that if she "kicked the bucket" it would be posted on her website which is now defunct.

I GREATLY FEAR FOR HER AND HER WELL BEING!!

Ellen is a very private

Piper's picture

Ellen is a very private person, and as far as I know, very few if any know how to get in touch with her outside of email and website.

I believe Kim was one of those few that knew a few details from before Ellen really shut the doors to most. But with Kim's passing that knowledge passed with her.

I hope Ellen is able to get the support she needs.

It Works for Me too

tmf's picture

Work fine for me, even if it say -- "The Barking Duck Tavern is currently under construction," she says. "Sorry for the inconvenience." --

As for her page , there no news since Tuck #141

I wish her well : )

Pay it forward

I've read Tuck a few times and really enjoy most of it. I've also exchanged e-mails with Ellen and have really enjoyed her wit. And I really wish her life would take a turn for the better. As in, after all the shit she's gone through, she deserves to win a big lottery just to balance the scales. Oh well...

Anyhow, she does have a paypal account people can donate to if they wish to help her out. I've just used it and it works fine, so if anyone else is able to spare some money, here's the URL I use

JOY TO ALL!!!!!

As of this writing Ellen's web site was UP!!!!!

( For how long is another matter!!)

I appreciate Tuck just like anybody else

Ellen has her difficulties but it is extremely hard in these economic times for people to put up enough to fully support a person ( and her spouse ! ) who by her admission is chronically depressed.

She has a lot of fiery, pugnacious pride and I know she hates to ask for money and it really comes down to that she hates to lose control over her own life. As would we all. Tact is also not really in her vocabulary either, FWIW. I know this situation intimately as my partner is chronically depressed also and is on disability.

Question is where does community support begin and where does it end ? I will be blunt. One episode every two months, without letting her loyal readership know about her situation, is what has caused her present financial difficulties.

I once had to release an employee because she was constantly depressed. She was a very bright and intelligent woman but I could not get enough work out of her. She did not communicate her difficulties to me and by the time she did it was too late. It was my first supervisory position and I learned a hard lesson - as much as you sympathize, one has a job to do. I understood then that depressed or not the woman was still responsible for getting help for herself.

I have donated to her not merely because of Tuck but being Trans is hard enough without all of her other difficulties. I have donated before and I will probably do so again but she is still responsible for keeping a roof over her own head as is true for us all. However, something is wrong with this picture when a donor can not afford to buy their own home on decent terms and for fear of losing their job and then losing that home ( I have lived in an apartment for 19 years ) while the donee ( correct me if I am wrong ) has a house.

Where does community support

Where does community support begin and end? Good question. And a question I can't answer. I really don't know how to answer a question like that. All I can say is that when I can afford to give somebody a helping hand, I do. It's the way I choose to live. I don't do it to buy friends, I don't do it for public acknowledgement, and I don't do it with the expectation of being paid back. The reason I do it is because "someday it could be me that needs a hand".

Bang for your buck

With all of her stories and as many readers as she has I'd guestimate that if people could pay her a buck a story she'd be pretty well off. Who could deny a dollar for that much entertainment?
Unfortunatly Paypal takes the lions share of the dollar if you sent only a dollar at a time and since her address is not publically known its not like you can slip a buck in an envelope either.
She points out it would be better to save up your dollars and send them in lump paypal payments and therein lies the problem; its easy to part with a buck, ask for a twenty and we all move a little slower.

barkingduck.net not up

Anyone know what's up with Ellen's site? It's not up as of 7/23/2013.
