Hey everyone,
Sorry, I've been so quiet lately. Things have been happening.

Today, we started an aggressive process to fix what I've been calling the "phantom logout issues." No one is logged out; just some part of the system serves you a "stale" logged-out page from the cache in a few small places.

We have disabled much of the caching setup to try to figure out what's going wrong, and things seem to be better, but I need more data before I can start rebuilding.

On the personal front, we won in Family Court. The Judge ruled that the NinjaPotato is to stay with us and that his grandparents had no claim for custody. But as for the other stuff, things just keep getting pushed out over and over, and we are playing a waiting game.

So, if you continue to have the phantom logout issue after reading this blog, please let me know. If you used to get it all the time and now get it less, also let me know. And if things are the same as before, that's still data I need, even if I wish it was not a thing.

Great! It's so good to see that some authority figures have some common sense and smarts enough to leave the yard ape where it belongs. Supposedly smart people make the laws, and then along comes some pencil-necked geek that tries to twist it to the agency's interpretation ie.....
Something to do or something to make themselves look important and in need of a bigger budget, or screwing with someone or something they don't like or, trying to cover their butts for some perceived liability issue, or on and on. Non-elected bureaucrats trying to justify their existence, leaving the little guy trying to fight city hall. Legislators make the laws, various agencies enforce the law, not interpret it, as it is a courts job to do that interpretation. Thats me, down off my soap box. Sorry. And i didnt have to log in again to do the comment.

Error!

Two faults in your comment. First, the reference to "common sense". Extensive observations have conclusively proven the non-existence of such a thing. It's a fairytale, just like the Easter Bunny or Santa Claus. Much like the phrase "univeral rights". Ain't no such thing.

And the idea that "smart people make the laws". Ummm, wrong. Members of Congress make laws. Never use the term "Members of Congress" and the phrase "smart people" in the same sentence, paragraph, or article. They write laws to allow loopholes for those "Non-elected bureaucrats" to twist if need be. I admit, these days the laws they write don't need much, if any twisting as they come out pre-perverted to begin with.

We need to expand open hunting to include our Congress critters. And I say that as a registered Republican. Being one is the only way I get to vote in Oklahoma as the Demos don't even try to run candidates for elected office anymore.

If I registered as an Independent or (god[?] forbid) a Democrat I'd only get to vote every four years! Not to mention being proclaimed a commie-loving, criminal pervert pedophile.

Well, i had a nice, long

Tongue in cheek answer typed up, but when i hit the second stage save button, it gave me another 503 backend fetch error, (which it has been doing all afternoon and evening), then slapped me in the face by closing the page, deleting it, and it signed me out.

Recently

I haven't experienced the phantom logged out status recently which I definitely noticed, a nice change!

Something else missing

I haven't noticed the 'phantom logout' thing today like I have the last few weeks but just having logged in, my first destination is usually 'Track' to see if anything has changed or someone has commented on something. That has vanished, all I get is the 'My Account' page.

Edit: Oh, and I have just noticed that several of the top entries on the Home page are repeated!

About Track...

Track was disabled while we were having repeated database issues, and thought it might be an issue. But I'm going to turn it back on shortly. Thank you for reminding me :)

Congrats!!!

What can I say? It's so nice when things work out right! Amidst all the things going wrong in general as the redneck conservative trumpists assert their power we have to celebrate a win for one of us!

I had problems with the logout issue but I found using the Home button at the bottom of the page worked so I've gotten in the habit of using it. Now I shall have to retrain myself again. Oh, the price we have to pay!!! ;-)

BC Was Offline

Yesterday afternoon (my time) for me, but it is OK this morning and no problem with the login.

I'm happy for you that your little warrior can stay with you. That's great news. Have you got an apartment now?

FYI

No logout issues found as of yet. Tried it at least a half-dozen times with no error. Before, a half-dozen tries would have meant a half-dozen errors! Yea!!!

Log Outs

BarbieLee's picture

Spasmodic as is my hitting BCTS in and out multi times per day. Not a big deal as I'm logged out and I leave BCTS when I come back I may or may not be logged in without any input from me. I figured you ladies were allowing me to join again, or not if it doesn't auto log me in.

Pipper sweety, I truly don't care one way or another, logged in, logged out. If there is a cookie count I've got to be driving the bot insane as I'm going on and off the net sometimes more than a dozen times a day. At times when I have time I go into the cookie cache on my computer and delete a hundred or more cookies, not all of them because some are necessary to log back into some very special domains.
Hugs Piper, you ladies are special for sure. Life used to be so simple using DOS.

Page loading times

Currently most pages load now in 3-5 seconds here in Germany. Before the recent changes this was 10-20 seconds.
The home page loaded a few days ago in 20-30 seconds, now it is 10-20 seconds.

Speed

In the last day the page loading times while logged in have sped up dramatically for me as well, feels very snappy compared to before.

No logouts for me today yay

No logouts today…. Cool

Edit: Oh, and I have just noticed that several of the top entries on the Home page are repeated!

I am also seeing this happening.

Still happening

Yep. The actual list of links at the top is fine, but the top five entries in that list are displayed twice below, including the request for funds.

I'm struggling to think of a mechanism which could do this.

Getting 503 - Backfetch Fails

Since Saturday evening. Couldn't login at all until Sunday afternoon. Worked okay for awhile, now they are coming back again.
