Belated, but here it comes!
So, day 3 was the trek through the rest of TX, OK, and AR to get to our destination town there. After spending the night in a little place with a surprisingly nice room just off Route 66 (America's Best in V, TX: we'll give more details after the trip's over,) we started the day bright and early, with only a minor hiccup when I didn't get everything out of the room and we had to nab a spare key.
I'll be honest, TX... didn't impress me much. The windmills were nice, though.
OK was pretty, and gave us early signs of what we would see in AR (read: swamps, thick forests, and humidity.)
Animal Watch: we saw two buffalo passing through OK, and two beefalo shortly after the border to AR.
Food was mostly boring. We were making use of some BK coupons we got before leaving home :)
Night 3 was spent in... well, honest to god, a bit of a shit-hole in HSAR. There was a bullet hole in the mirror, and about half as many lights as were necessary to light the room... but the beds were clean enough, and the shower worked. We got out, had breakfast at the Smokehouse (classic diner breakfasts, pretty cheap and good,) then headed for my folks' place, where Ms. Joyce got to meet Mom, Dad, and even my sister and her family.
I loaded the car down with as many boxes as we could, and we set out several hours earlier than we expected to on our way back home. Like good road-trippers, we decided we'd hot-foot it back, resting in gas station parking lots and foregoing motels. It was only a 23 hour drive back, after all...
And now here we are, at about 5 PM local time, in another Route 66 motel (another surprisingly nice one at that,) and might be here a couple days due to a bit of very bumpy and messy car trouble half-way through NM... but that's a story for later.
*hugs*

Good luck
Hopefully the car will be fixed quickly
Also hope you bought stuff to do if you are stuck for a few days
