Road Trip Blogs: Day 2

The trip continues!

After leaving WAZ at about 9:30-ish yesterday morning we made a bee line for ANM. We made a brief stop after crossing state borders to get a stretch and a snack in (and watch some absolutely adorable dogs playing in the rest area there,) then pushed on.

Once in ANM, we stopped for lunch at Rudy's Country Store and BBQ. 4 stars on Yelp, and it was pretty darn packed! It took us a few moments to figure out how to even order our food, but once we did and got settled in at one of the cafeteria-style tables we enjoyed some quite good pulled pork and brisket sandwiches, and some very interesting baked beans (that felt and tasted more like refries to me!)

Our next major rest stop was at the Flying Cranch for snickers bars and bathrooms before pushing on to. We wanted to make it to a little yellow town in TX, but settled for a place about 50 miles outside it due to really needing to nest down after being on the road so long.

Other than the pups and a handful of cows and goats, no major interesting animal sightings to report this time sadly.

Today we want to make the final push into AR, where we'll rest up one town over from my folks' place before heading there tomorrow to get my stuff, in hopes to set off from there and get a bit of a head start on the trip back (though that depends on time spent and tiredness: we may end up resting another day in AR before heading back.)

Supplies are holding good! We left home with three packs of cheese, three tubes of crackers, three 12-packs of sodas, a large container of sandwich meat, and a few other basics to help keep food costs down. So far we've eaten two tubes of crackers, one pack of cheese, and about half the sandwich meat, and just cracked the second 12-pack (A&W Zero Sugar Root Beer. The first was Zero Sugar Squirt!) We'll likely re-stock on a few things before leaving AR, but overall I think we're well set for the rest of our journey.
