In the sky to the west, during and after sunset, Venus and Jupiter are visible and close to each other. I think that they're still getting closer. I read somewhere that the Moon was going to eclipse Venus.

My son had a powerful
My son had a powerful telescope and showed me Jupiter. It is amazing to see it "in the flesh". 861 million miles away. In the UK currently the northern light can just about be seen in the south.

Visible to the south? Yes, it's possible.
Was your view of Jupiter recent? Did he show you Venus as well? Once I looked at Venus through a small telescope. As bright as it was, Venus was a crescent.

It was last year. I saw a few of Saturn's moons too. Apparently, it has 83!
It makes you feel so small seeing it through a telescope.

Apparently, until a few weeks ago, astronomers knew of more moons of Saturn than of Jupiter. Then JWST discovered 12 (or 16) more.

I've seen a couple of her videos. She is good.
There is a certain difference between seeing it on video or in pictures, and seeing it in the sky. A few years ago, I saw a couple minutes of the Venus transit in front of the sun right at sunset.
