To me they are a universal fit any situation dress. Whether one is going to that Governor's Ball (I'll never get invited) or going to the Flea Market, there is a cocktail dress that will fit the occasion. For you authors it's easy for your heroine to be the center of attention or eye candy if she is wearing a cocktail dress. There are enough styles and designs one will work no matter where your leading lady is going or what she is doing. Exceptions of course is trekking through the jungle, killing terrorist in their desert camp, horse back riding, kind of situations.
If one has any questions on what, where, why, ask the resident ladies. I'm positive they studied the fashions enough over the years as they attire their leading ladies and themselves. The younger heroines can wear any length dress from not decent to floor length. Older needs to respect length with appropriate age. It wasn't a cocktail dress but denim skirt and black sleeveless tank top I wore last week. The hem of the skirt was right at the knee. It was age appropriate. The tank top was pushing the age limit but I got away with it. An attire anyone might wear and I received a couple compliments. A top and skirt hides the extra pounds. I have to lose fifteen pounds now to wear 'a' dress. Life is just so unfair!
Love cocktail dresses, the designs and material is a catch all phrase and covers almost every situation.

Angela, I wear denim mini skirts in the garden or on the tractor and think nothing of it when someone visits. No way on God's little green earth I'm wearing one to town or OKC unless it was a life or death situation. Why doesn't it bother me on the farm? They are in my private zone and they came to me not me to them. Why not town? I'm too damn old and it wouldn't be appropriate.
If you can get away with it out on the soccer field or skating rink or where ever and you can carry it off. You have a lot more chutzpah than me and I admire you girl.

I pulled the double eagle out of my pocket and held it up to the door. At the sound of the buzzer I pushed the door open. Walking up to the counter I dropped the coin on the glass as I took a measured look of the woman. She had put in too many hard miles in her life. I figured she was about sixty nine or seventy. Her makeup was too heavy and not put on with any care. The bright red lipstick didn’t match anything and only made her look gaudy. Cigarette smoke curled up from the cigarette dangling from her lips. She tilted her head to keep the smoke from getting into her eyes. She had one of those gaudy gold bands holding her thinning hair off her forehead. Her earrings were too much and from the looks of her ears she had been wearing too much all her life as her earlobes were stretched out of shape.
She reached out with her wrinkled right hand to pick up the coin. Her false nails were too long and too sharp to be attractive. She was going on ninety trying to act like eighteen. I wasn’t glad to see I had been right about her dress. She was wearing a miniskirt and heels. Those legs of hers looked like she had borrowed them from a year old corpse. It was enough to make one wonder what goes on in the mind of old people as they refuse to age gracefully?

Well, what goes on in the mind of a member of a minority that is routinely ridiculed for how they present themselves that leads them to ridicule someone else for their presentation?
As I see written again and again on this site, people do what they have to to feel happy, or at least okay with themselves. Maybe it isn't what you would want to see in the mirror, but then how most of us look isn't what a lot of cis people would like to see in the mirror, either.
Why not just let people be and not judge them for not being what we think they should be?

When I see a beautiful woman who has it all put together and mention to my friend, "Look, the girl has it all." I was looking at some truly beautiful Tennessee Walker horses and told the gentleman he has some of the prettiest horses I've ever seen. I asked him if he waxed and polished them everyday? Juanita is one of those unique people who can grow beautiful flowers all around her. She sends me pics and I'm jealous but I still tell her she has the most beautiful flowers. Even better than the greenhouses. Last month the full moon was just coming up. I called Kelli and told her how beautiful the moon was, big, yellow, bright and absolutely gorgeous.
Yes in my own way I judge between right, wrong, up, down, beautiful and ugly. Whether a girl gave a care how she looks or she gave the world the finger and looks like crap. I judge men too. He has a belly on hm as he should be the one in the maternity ward. When I say Hi or Hello to someone I'm judging if I want to talk to them or not.
When i meet someone, I'll make several decisions on how they are dressed, how they did or didn't bring it together and if I even want to talk to them. Just as they have the right to be who and what they want, doesn't mean I have to give up any of my rights to approve, nor accept them. I don't flow with the crowd, never have. There are a whole lot of people on this channel who don't approve of me either. I am too conservative and believe in carrying my own protection other than a cell phone.
Israel has made it mandatory all gun owners are to carry. Everyone should be thankful I don't post any pics of myself in a bikini. Remember this?

In the United States of Insanity we would be rock stupid not to "judge" every person we see.
Mass shootings, carjackings, rapes, etc. occur much too often not to be aware of who's around us.
I'm glad I'm not an eighteen to twenty-two-year-old male who displays anti-social tendencies. (Don't all eighteen to twenty-two-year-old males display anti-social tendencies.) Unlike Barbie -- I don't believe the path to safety is paved with everyone owning a Glock. Actually, I think we should obey the Bible and beat our swords into plowshares, and spears into pruning hooks. Ted Cruz would whine that Isaiah 2:4 said nothing about guns because that is his pitiful nature.
We have two cars . . . a 2004 VW Rabbit we drive most of the time which is rusted out and a one-year-old car that we hardly ever drive. . .for trips. We use sturdy locks and motion sensor lights. We've asked our Springer Spaniel to fake aggression, but he has only mastered aggressive licking.
I'd be very surprised if Isreal had a law requiring all gunowners to carry a gun. Last I heard, in Isreal, you had to be 20 to apply for a gun license and 27 if you didn't serve in the military. I believe they also restrict bullet ownership to a maximum of fifty at a time. I could be wrong.

Day started at 3:30, ankle length black skirt, white blouse. Sonogram, whew, I'm not pregnant. Worried there for a little while. Finally made it home after 7:00.They should give green stamps for the prices they charge. Didn't get a lollypop or balloon. What's the world coming to?.
