My crappy memory won't remember the name, but I recently read a story here about a brain transplant patient who was accepted into her new (female) host body's family, who owned a solar technology company? Anyway, she dated/married a local boy who went to university and invented a new solar panel for them that also generated electricity at night (and cloudy days?) by generating electricity from temperature changes.
Today I read this article that reminded me of that story.

Better than 95% that this is the ...

Side note: Most of our farthest-out space probes, and many surface rovers, get power from the temperature differences between their red-hot (literally) radioactive power sources and the environment around them. As distance from Sun (any radiating source) the light intensity drops off fast - inverse-square law. Jupiter is about the limit for solar cells (But see Juno-Jupiter orbiting probe).
Most recent rover that I know of is Perseverance: https://mars.nasa.gov/mars2020/. Perseverance took a "friend", Ingenuity (IGY, nickname 'Ginny') the helicopter. IGY is flying in Mars' atmosphere, 1% of Earth surface normal! IGY is scouting ahead, and has already helped Perseverance avoid a sand dune field that might have trapped her.
Bingo
Yup, that's the story.
Thanks for the bonus space program info.
