Many writers write then move on just as a builder, painter or sculptor would and they do not care what kritty14663 or some other faceless online person thinks.
Readers should read then move on as noiselessly as they arrived.

That's not how it works with physical books. You've read and liked other books by the author. Or one of your friends suggested that book. Or you read reviews of what other people think of the book. Are you read the reviews of critics you like and their suggestions.
