A story I have read. It's a TG story. The assigned birth is a boy. Now the boy has been friends with a girl for a long time. But they drifted a part. His mom, his friend, his friends mom and he went on many vacations together as kids. I know they were at the beach, maybe the Grand Canyon. On the vacations, he dressed as a girl because he wanted to not because of his mom. He also had a girls name. His dad was no longer around. He stopped dressing like a girl because people kept telling his mom he shouldn't and maybe his father too. Not sure the last part.
I thought it was a Karin Bishop book, but I've just re-read all the books on my Kindle. Any help in figuring out the book would be appreciated. I know I've read the story at least twice. Bah!
Edit:
The boy has blocked all this from memory and I "think" the girl is upset thinking he killed her best friend off and is making fun of it. He is a loner until the story and starts remembering.

This reminds me of a story I read as well. I'm not sure if it's the one you meant but I can add some details or eliminate one-story at the least. Anyway this story goes A boy wakes up with Memory loss Over the course of the story He's mother's friend and her daughter Poker team with Feminine ideals And finally the daughter get him to dress up as a girl I'm just at the end the Dam breaks it remembers the last couple of years of him being a transgender girl. After writing this out I am not sure if this fits The story you're looking for but this is the story that comes to mind from your text. The trouble is I don't know what it's called day ever.

Except, my bad I put Forceful 's plot in the story I'm looking for. Darn it. Now I need to think hard. The story feels like Karin Bishop. Parts I remember, is him coming home to an apartment. The two spends time at his place and her place. Parts of it remind me of Both Parties by KB. I think its located in the Midwest maybe Chicago. They go to the malls. But early on he says something which makes the girl upset thinking it's about their past together when he was a little girl and played with her as a little girl. All well I continue searching.
