For All The Pluses And Minuses

If the information available today had been available sixty years ago I probably would have transitioned, although even now there is the small matter of courage.

The biggest factor is just knowing that there are others like you and that you are not alone.

Same but Different

Although the app seems to be all inclusive at first glance, following through what it offers and does it still puts us in a definitive box. Admittedly it seems like most, even transgendered, like to be told what to do and be led to a solution. I'm one of those always seeking more info, and trying to find the best solutions, the best answers.

Monday 5/17/21 Amarillo VA I met with my primary. I "thought" I had been supplying her with info and keeping her up to date. She obviously hasn't been paying attention. Totally clueless when we discussed hormones. Didn't make any difference in the end as she was in contact with the OBGYN who is in charge at the same time of my appointment. I was informed I had aged out of the TG treatment program. They would treat me as a patient but not TG. Say WHAT! I also found out I was and always have been the only TG patient in the Amarillo VA system. I suspected as much years earlier. The bottom line they will no longer allow hormones.

Feb 2021 Women's Trust Clinic informed me they no longer accept TG after I tried to ger an appointment to renew, refill my hormones. Thus I was out for two months before Amarillo VA. I had been seeking another private provider in the meantime with little luck. Finally managed to snag one and set up an appointment the day after the Amarillo VA date.

Tuesday 5/18/21 I filled out all their forms at the clinic. Along with all the info of what hormones I had been taking and what I desired to update. Lost cause. These people might be accepting of TG but still functioning in the dark ages. I almost walked out before I convinced them some of their recommendations I was NOT accepting. The other disappointment I had with them is they failed to acknowledge my preferred name even after filling it out on their forms. Enlightened they are not.

Floor length suede skirt, white silk blouse, suede vest, cowgirl boots four inch heel, Long wavy hair down past my shoulders, gold errings, necklace, makeup, five foot five, one hundred forty two pounds. I'm seven pounds overweight. And they missed the gender and the preferred name at what is supposed to be an inclusive clinic? At Costco Clinic they know me as Barbie Lee. When I stopped to pick up the hormones the pharmacist asked me what clinic phoned in the order. "Well..., they sent the wrong name. Let's match up the birth date."

Received more than a couple dozen compliments on my attire that day. One guy getting on the elevator as I was getting off took a second look. "I like your dress." I thanked him of course. Five women in Costco made a detour to tell me how nice I looked. The lady who checks IDs when I entered said one word, "Nice" The lady at the second pharmacy gave me a compliment.

I pray I doing it right and leaving a good impression for all those who follow.

My diatribe and rant was for those who are like me. Keep informed, don't just blindly accept what they offer or don't offer. As for the VA I tried to explain I may be female but I'm different. My body chemistry isn't the same as a genetic female. It fell on deft ears. As far as the clinic I found Tuesday, I'm back on hormones again but not the right ones nor the right dosage. And I sure as hell didn't appreciate them not getting the name and gender right. I'm normally open minded about Mr or Miss and names but they are way out of line for those who are supposed to know better.
