Author:

Over the year’s I’ve read plenty of transgender and crossdressing fiction both online and published novels.

While much of the online content is seemingly written to titillate the author, which is understandable, published novels usually seem to be mostly intended to be realistic fiction.
With real life experience of the subject I often find novels trying to present lgbt characters insulting. The characters fall down because the author seems to have included at least one (and often one of each) lgbt character solely to widen the novels appeal to make it more stylish. Said author then fails miserably as they have no understanding of what it is really feels like from the inside.
Perfect example of author jumping on lgbt bandwagon must be emma straub’s ‘all adults here’

I Don't Understand

BarbieLee's picture

It was the comment my friend said to me when discussing transgender. I told her it wasn't unusual because the majority of people, and that includes the medical and professional people, don't understand either. It seems a lot of transgender don't understand either although they accept it because they are living it.
What almost everyone fails to realize is we are nothing special. We are normal human beings just like millions of others. The problem is everyone including ourselves want to categorize us as something other than a normal human. Thus they pick out the worse examples, or the failures, the misfits, those who were but weren't.
Exactly how many people born with a cleft lip, malformed limbs, deft or blind, have you seen in movies or read about portrayed as psychos, killers, monsters? Maybe women who want breast implants are psycho monsters? All the aforementioned are accepted as normal by society. Until we are accepted as someone who is as normal as everyone else, nothing will change
Life is so much fun watching the so called intelligence of humanity.

Obey whose rules?

I write what I wish and don't expect to conform to anyone's ideas of what a correct LGBT Author writes. I do not consider myself to be part of the LGBT community, though wish no one any ill.

Question answered

I was wondering about Peter's gender history. Thanks.

I was struck too hard by the dreadful pseudery of the Grauniad's article. I shall go back and have another look.

Quiet as a mouse, me
