Hi. Last night I signed up for HBO Max. Warner Bro's is releasing all their new movies on there now. After I signed up, I began looking through the tv and film library for items to add to my list. I was very happy to find a movie called Switch. this movie was released in 1991 and was one of my first real sources of TG content. I just thought Id share it with all of you.
Switch (1991)A sexist womanizer is killed by one of his former lovers and then reincarnated as a woman.

Look Wayyyyy back ....
Goodbye Charlie
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058154/reference
Womanizing Charlie is shot by an angry husband and falls in the sea. He arrives home after his memorial as a cute, amnesic woman. His old friend helps her/him.
Tony Curtis, Debbie Reynolds, Pat Boone.....
Plus a GOODBYE CHARLIE sitcom from 1985
Or at least a pilot for a TV show based on this
premise that never got picked up by the networks.

Judging by the scary/cheesy title sequence (maybe
they planned to reshoot it once they got some money)
and the mediocrity of the first 10 minutes I can see why.
Although there was some pretty good physical comedy
where Suzanne Sommers acted all dazed + out of it,
and she did an OK job of conveying Charlie's male
mannerisms. She might've made this show work
with better jokes + better... every other character;
Although even then I wouldnt have watched it.
There's only about one sitcom every decade
than I like enough to be a regular viewer.
Hearing laugh tracks makes me clench
my teeth and want to throw things

Pre code gender non conforming movies
Prior to the adoption of the production code, thee were many movies that blurred gender lines and one comedy team did it regularly. The RKO team of (Bert) Wheeler and (Robert) Woolsey made several madcap pre- code comedies in which Wheeler, who was younger, fair featured and slightly built, played women. My favorite of these is Peach O' Reno, in which they play Reno Nevada divorce attorneys. Wheeler dresses en femme to seduce the husband of his client in order to prove infidelity. It's a fun, if dated, yarn about Nevada being the divorce capital of America in a time when other states made divorce difficult and expensive.
I have it on DVD but it may be available online as well.
TG Movies
Amazon Prime seems to have lots of TG themed movies. If you have Prime, watch the movie "Sam" and see what it reminds you of.
I watched it on your
I watched it on your suggestion. It wouldn't win awards and I struggled to get past the first half hour, but it does get better further in. Made by Mel Brooks' son, it has moments I totally loved. Like when Blondell breaks the fourth wall and speaks directly to the camera.
The story could have been lifted directly from BC, and the film is a little cheesy, but I did find it entertaining. Thanks for telling us about it.
Stacy Keach should have worn a bathrobe
Stacy Keach should have worn a bathrobe. :) Did you notice who played the debutante getting her prom gown? Samantha Brooks, with her grandad's (or great grandad's grin). LOL.
I wonder if Nicholas has been to BCTS? This story could have been written by a dozen or more regulars here, including me. LOL.
Thanks for pointing me at this little gem because that's what it is. Not a fancy Oscar-winning movie but a good story, well-told.
Hugs,
Erin

Lots of little ops in the movie
She's not the same dress size as Margo but the dress fits her like a glove.
In the office where she picks up the golf club, she is in background where the two men are talking. She's not wearing heels but shoes with a 1/2 inch heel. Shouldn't have trouble walking.
Her stats claim she's a size 4. Margo might be a four, she's more like a twelve. If I start naming all the gorgeous women who are a size twelve or larger I'd be here the rest of the day. Miss Ellen Barkin is a very beautiful lady.
The story line has been done before. I like all of them and this one was no exception.
Hugs Jessica, thanks for the reminder

1930s
There's a 1930s era film about a husband & wife who wake up with each others hair and comedy ensues. I saw it a long time ago so it may differ somewhat. Was the woman Carole Lombard?
Turnabout (1940)...
...based on the 1931 novel by Thorne Smith (Topper, I Married a Witch).
According to Wikipedia, Carole Landis was the female lead, with John Hubbard as the husband and Adolphe Menjou getting top billing as Hubbard's character's business partner who IIRC has designs on the wife. (Read the book a long time back; never saw the film.) Under the influence of an Indian idol, the husband and wife, who argue constantly, find themselves in each other's bodies.

TG Movie
There are new ones that come out once in a while. The newest one is 'Freaky' where a serial killer swaps bodies with a teenage girl.
I suspect they swap back at the end as I don't believe it is a horror movie though.
Freaky Movie
Hi. I saw the trailer for Freaky. Not really my cup of tea. I love Kathryn Newton from her work on Supernatural. To bad Wayward Sisters fell through. However, I an NOT a Vince Vaughn fan. He has his moments but no thanks. I'm going to give this movie a hard pass.

Hard Pass
I would totally agree with you. The plot does not endear me to the movie either.
This was a PSA really as it must be noted that movies with TG elements do appear fairly regularly.
PSA
I wasn't expecting this post to turn into a PSA. I was just happy to find the movie Switch on HBO Max, and wanted to share it.
Jessica Marie.
You've seen "Breakfast on Pluto", right?
Gritty and not a comedy, but quite a good film. Cillian Murphy is excellent. Directed by Neil Jordan of "The Crying Game" fame based on Patrick McCabe's Booker Prize-winning book.
Availability through ROKU
TUBI is a commercials-included streaming service with a fair sized LGBTQ library, It has Breakfast on Pluto as well as Peacock. again with Murphy. And Different for Girls.
