While listening to Terry Goodkind's "The Nicci Chronicles #1" sequel to his "Sword of Truth" series something was said about misunderstanding, misconception, misinterpretation or misperception of information, what is not important
I'm pretty sure that the story was here at BCTS
Story:- Fantasy, involves magic and mythical beings
Setting:- Modern World (I think)
Scene:- Protagonist's elder sibling jumps in front of the attack of the younger and gets hit
paraphrased dialogue
Good being says "That's the problem with beings like you ????!" [???? = name]
Bad / Evil being "Oh and whats that?"
Good being says "That when a text says sacrifice is to be made, that sacrifice means that the someone has to sacrifice another!"

Amethyst's "I Wish"
I believe you are referring to I wish. Shannon's older sister Sarah is a witch and for Shannon's birthday, she gives him a wish, so he wishes he were just like her, and he then transforms into a female and a witch. During an attack by a demon, Sarah steps in front of Shannon, and the higher being appears and accept her sacrifice, but the demon misunderstands and thinks that the being means to kill her. Try I wish by Amethyst
in book two is your quote
“Demons,” the voice said in a disgusted tone, “always assuming that sacrifice means the death of another. What was needed to attain my power was self-sacrifice.”
Elsie Wilde
I agree with the others
That does sound a lot like my story, I Wish, specifically the first scene of Book 2.

Don't take me too seriously. I'm just kitten around. :3
Thanks to all, for answering
Thanks to all, for answering my plea,
I did leave a thank you a few days ago, but I have been having a little difficulty with my "NET" connection dropping out intermittently, and I assume it must have done then.
