I am sorry to say I must pull my story, Cindy at Music Camp, from the 2019 Reader Retention Story Contest.
I tried to finish the story in January, but I can not. I have 19,474 words on 49 pages in my word processor. 7 full chapters written and 6 posted. I am aiming for no more than 10 chapters, but I don't know if I can pull that off. Chapter 7 has caused me more problems than the others. I have edited it twice, and I think I am going to cut out a large portion of the chapter. I am here to write a good story, so to do that, I need more time than I have within the month to finish the story. This means that I must pull the story from the contest.
I will keep writing and posting the story. Thank you for reading.

Still writing
I am still working on the story. The next chapter has an element in it that I am still struggling with as to whether to include it in the story or not. I also need to get back to a comfortable position. I like to have at least two chapters written ahead of what I am posting. This allows me to tweak things to make the flow work better before something is posted. It also allows for several re-reads/edits before posting. As I approached the end of the month and the end of the contest, I was only one chapter ahead if that.
Life - is handing me a few challenges that are limiting my writing opportunities, including several hours, several times over the last week or so, in snow removal. I will finish this and I am still writing it. I just ask for a little more patience.

Re - TEN - shone... I dare to speculate that your story has essentially satisfied Melanie's intent? To urge writers (as she has all along) to risk a teeny bit and also to note that your readers will continue to enjoy your writing even if you cannot finish it by tomorrow? I almost always write longer stories. Meeting the multiple chapter element was never going to be the hard part for me, it was going to be able to finish before midnight.
I didn't pull off finishing it before the end of January, but life does go on. So does my writing. Thanks for reading, and I promise, more is to come.
