Okay, so don't get me wrong. I'm not taking a side here and I don't know how many people actually read the blogs. (Is there a counter somewhere?)

But, here's a money generating scheme to shore up BigCloset.

A lot of the content here is heartfelt, personal entries. Those make good reading. Another set of postings are about the authors' trials and tribulations about posting their stories here. Also, good reading. Another lot is blatant ads for books for sale on Amazon with links to purchasing those said books. (I do hope those links do give a small sliver of the sales to BC.)

So. Why. Not. Charge. A. Small. Amount. Or. Require. A. Donation. Every. Time. You. Place. A. Notice. Self. Promoting. A. Book?

After all, the elaborate jpg and all the promotion info take up space here (bandwidth). How about a $5 donation for each notice?

I think that long ago when the news was printed on paper and sold to people each day, these self-promotions were called Ads. (My parents told me this. I am too young to remember those times)

One of those ladies does

A lot goes on behind the scenes the majority never read about. Wish I was a mouse listening into what Erin knows. What most of us see is pretty straight forward advertisements (if you will) about stories now published on (name your publisher of choice here). What ninety nine percent of us don't see are the funds those story sales generate being shared with BCTS.

It isn't my place to disclose names. That is up to the ladies who write the stories and all the dedicated ladies of BC who keep this operation going. I'm positive I don't know the majority of them. I can assure everyone, as I make the sign across my heart bra, funds are being shared from some of the story sales with BCTS. Keep in mind these authors aren't the Clintons. They aren't getting paid ten or twenty million up front for thinking about writing a book no one wants to read. Although our home grown authors may be sharing, it's pretty thin and BC won't survive without individuals kicking in to the collection plate as it's passed thru the pews.

One day I pray BCTS is a multi million dollar publishing company and all those who have put in endless hours of their lives while receiving nothing back are finally paid for their sacrifices. There is NO other site on the web with all the bells and whistles these girls have built into BCTS. Their problem is an age old one. It takes financial means to get a business weaned so it starts returning funds instead of sucking them out of the operator's pockets. I hope everyone knows over eighty percent of all new businesses never make it past three years. The girls have beat the odds. Let's help them to become a name everyone recognizes such as Barnes and Noble. A small donation is a big thing when thousands make that donation.

I love all the authors on BCTS. Many of them are so gifted it boggles the mind.

Ads

People have been able to buy cheap ads on BC, cheaper than your suggested price, through Project Wonderful for five years. Almost no one did. If I charged for commercial blogs, I don't think anyone would pay except the ones who already do thru Hatbox memberships or other donations. At the moment, I'm considering the availability of blogs promoting books as just part of the service to readers and authors. Only two or three people who are not BC authors have posted such blogs. Trying to set up a way to charge people for such things is really, truly, and seriously not worth the $10 or $15 dollars a month I might get for it.

Thanks for thinking of us, though. :)

Hugs,
Erin

Affiliate Sales

As a note, any link to Amazon is usually manually edited by us, or automatically edited by javascript on the site, to insert our affiliate code, so that we get a portion of the sale for anything linked to amazon on this site.
