This is one of main favourite stories. I thought I'd check its date to see if it would make the 1-, 2-, or 3- year list, unfortunately it misses out by a couple of months.
I recently picked up a two decade best of SF omnibus, of the stories I have read so far, none could match this work by Aardvark.
If you haven't come across it before then give it a try.

And I loved the first two chapters of After the Ashes by Renae. However I don't think its been finnished.

Both original chapters have been edited and changed a little to better match with the third. It is a favorite of mine as are several other series she has going.
The great termite destroyer, aardvarks Sappho was very influential in encouraging my interest in writing. It came during a dark period in my life as my mother lay at home dying from cancer. I found it an inspirational diversion. And it's held put well over time.

Author Aardvark's work
Aardvark has always been a wonderful writer. He has written other stories besides Sappho: Warrior from Batuk, Jayti Singh as well as other stories. I have felt since the very first time I read anything by him that he has the potential to be a greater writer than many that are working as writers today. I personally would love to see him have his own work published in the public forum. I know I would buy the books he produced and do so even though I really can't see the fine print in the books without help with my vision. I always look forward to seeing a new piece of work by him. Keep up the good work, Aardvark.

All I can say is that I try to get better every time out. Writing entertaining stories and becoming a better writer have always been my greatest objectives. There are one or two stories I've been working to finish off, as time permits, but the real effort now is adding graphics to stories, with the ultimate goal of making graphical novels, something I've wanted and have been talking about for years, but never really had the time to sit down and actually learn how to do properly until recently.

Me, I Have Read Two Of Aardvark's Stories And I
Must admit that they are both well written and well worth the read. My only complaint is that the dang chapters are so dang long. :-) But that is just me. The two that I've read are Sappho and A Mistake To Remember. Both remind me strongly of one of my favorite characters, Diana Hunter.
