Duuuuhhh, me too!

Computer illiterate that I am I've been here over ten years and have never figured out how to do that. I only recently somehow---through blindly punching buttons---managed to include my space doggie picture in my comments. Maybe some kind soul will post a step by step "For Dummies" treatise on this. My stories look kinda naked without artwork...

have tried and failed

I tried. I need some help but it's nice to know I am not the only failure at this sort of thing. Dawn helped me with the other stories I have posted, but she's on the sidelines with a bad back. So I have to step up to the plate.

I can do it...

But I don't know if I can explain it. However I'll try.

First to be included in the text, the picture needs to be onsite. To up load a picture, click on the picture icon above the text entry box; click the browse button. Then click the upload tab at the top. Click the browse button in that box; find the picture on your computer, click it and then the open button.

Once it is uploaded, highlight it by clicking on the file name; then click the send to editor tab, then click the OK button. Voila.

I'm not sure how complete or accurate that explanation is, so any techno types out there with better technical writing skills please feel free to correct any errors of offer a better written explanation.

Hugs
Patricia

thank you

I appreciate your recommendations and will head there first thing in the morning when I have a clear mind. Thank you for taking the time to offer your suggestions!

adding a photo

If I can learn how, you can. 1, surf the internet for the type of photo you want. 2, download it to your file. Here comes the hard part ^j^. 3, Write your story ! 4 click on the box above that looks like a sunrise. 5 click browse. 6, in the box that comes up, click upload, then browse. this gets you to where you saved the photos. 7, click on image in file, then 'open'.
track-gallery-3.jpg
8, click upload. 9, click 'send to editor'. in the small box you started with, click OK. It's best to place the photo on it's own line.

Now the advanced, you are able to adjust the size by changing the two number values. I just loaded an image while I was typing instructions!

IT'S EASY, IT'S FUN

thank you

Thank you, Karen. I will try it in the morning!

Hope this helps...

Not sure if this will help, or if it will come out as intended due to HTML being omnipotent.
(You'll need to add back in a '<' symbol at the start of each line except the "Your intro here!" one and the "nbsp;" one, which needs the space removed between the '&' and the 'n' instead)
Anyway, I tend to copy and paste this chunk of text on each story, then customise it afterwards:

div align="center">
table width="100%">
td width= '200' align="left">
img src="/topshelf/system/files/u98571/Death%20Valley.jpg" width="398" height="500" alt="Death Valley.jpg" />
/td>
td align="left">

YOUR INTRO TEXT HERE!

/td>
/table>
/div>
!--break-->
hr />

div align="left">
& nbsp;

It turns out it's a lot harder then I thought to enter HTML without it turning actually into HTML? Sorry lol
If your still confused then I can send a screenshot over PM to show you how it should look normally instead if you'd like.

Anyway, moving on, if that all comes out right then what you have is the set-up info to make a 'table' as Patricia said, and the 4th line down is where the image is stored.

I usually highlight the "img src" line of text completely and then click the little picture icon that looks like a mini-sunset in the menu that includes the Bold and Italics options above the box your working on to open it up.
From there you 'browse' to bring up your storage, 'upload' the image you want, then click it and do 'Send to editor' followed by 'ok'.
The file-location and 'alt' (file name) should change to show the image you just put on and you're done basically lol

Hope that helps a bit?
Nessa

P.S the final align="left" and &nbsp (add an unmarked line gap) commands can be dropped if your doing the front-page header, I keep that mostly to make it neat on the in-story version of the header :)

Excellent!

this is great and I can't wait to try tomorrow!

Topshelf for Dummies

Thought I should mention this, I forget what version of BigCloset it was made for, so it could be slightly outdated, but is probably still a great resource for TopShelf users - https://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/forum/27881/topshelf-dumdums-... - Bobbie C really took great care putting it together and we need to remember it more!
