The Mandeans of Southern Iraq
The film is interesting. In the marsh country of Southern Iraq, there was an indigenous group in which gender was fluid with some caveats. When very young, if a boy wanted to live as a female he could and the same for a girl. The choice was considered permanent, no switching back and forth. The tribe subsisted on fish and grains grown on small islets.
It is sad that Oil was discovered there and Saddam almost wiped them out by draining the marshes so he could drill for oil. Today small groups survive mainly in Iran and Turkey. They are not Muslim.
I wish the people in the rest of the world would get their heads out of their asses.

I never heard the word Muxe
I never heard the word Muxe before, is it from the people Gwen spoke of ?
Muxe
I doubt that it is from the Manda.
I think it is likely that the word may come from the Indigenous people of the Mexican area.
