Yes, the next Julina is 'ready' - but not polished. It is currently sitting at 25,679 words and will probably end up being close to 30k by the time I polish...

Penny will help me decide how to break it all up. As the author, I find the 'parts' of it too short to be posted alone, but too integrated to just split at natural narrative gaps. The big crescendo to which it is building might be diluted if it takes a few chapters to get there.

These - and many other thoughts - have been racing through what passes for a brain sitting atop my spine.

But I do need to explain why I have been so silent over the summer, so here goes:

I am moving house, splitting my time between my UK address (about 10 days a month) and the Swiss address. Final move to the UK shall be around Easter next year. in London.
I have purchased a new car, a new bed, a new mattress, a new computer desk, a new dining table and chairs and so on and so forth. Only one speeding ticket with the new car so far. The car trip between teh addresses is around 650 miles each way.

Health-wise I have been rough. I have been diagnosed as pre-diabetic, I have frequent ocular migraines and gout attacks, and I suffer with muscular strains and tears as I try to do this removal stuff at my advanced age. Right now, my right shoulder is a mess with tendonitis and muscle tears. It has been for the past month. I live on painkillers. My right arm SHOULD be in a sling, but that just makes everything into a dot-and-carry marathon. I can find no comfortable position for sleeping, so live on two, or - if lucky - three hour long snooze sessions.

Not all is doom and gloom however. I had a nice Chinese meal last week with the wonderful 'Cyclist' and I have visited some of the art musea and galleries in London. I have a well-stocked wine cellar that the doctor has told me I must slow down consuming. I have even sold some of it to contribute to Erin and this site. I just hope that the other sites she et al manage are not receiving too great a proportion!

My major problem, though, is Julina and the next post.

Milsy is currently running some six months or so behind where Julina is at. So I have to liaise tightly with Penny about by whom, when and where inventions and advancements are made. I reckon that we need two or so more Milsy posts before it would be fair for me to show some of those developments. But this is an ongoing discussion between Penny and I. She herself has had many distractions as she said. But I can assure you there is more Julina in the pipeline, and really very close to posting if the decision is taken to chop it up ...

Ok, time for a painkiller, to put my right arm back into its sling and to pour another glass of wine.

All the very best

Painkillers

I thought the glass of wine was the painkiller? :)

Ouch. We all forget that things that we take for granted when we were young sprigs can end up taking a lot more effort once a few years have slid under the bridge. I'm in that situation myself, but I'm a terrible procrastinator and I can't seem to find the time to get someone else to do the jobs that they can do and I now find awkward.

So, we limp onwards. I'm particularly pleased to hear that Jules has more Julina to come, as I know from experience here that sometimes projects can run out of steam. Likewise, I have much more to say about Anmar - and some other projects that will appear if I ever get the time.

Finishing projects I have already started is a must. There are too many stories here that have just ceased partway without rhyme or reason. I know that in some cases that is because the authors are now in the 'In Memorium' column, but others seem to have either lost heart or found Real Life more demanding. I'm not blaming anyone, mind; as they say, sh*t happens. I fully intend to finish my efforts.

Glad to hear you're still around, Jules. Not glad to hear that you've crocked yourself. Go easy on the painkillers, they can become as big a problem as the one they were given you to solve. Am now anxious to find out what is happening in Blackstone!

Meal

I enjoyed that! Shall we describe the car? My first time out in any form of 'heel' for ages, as well. I trust you made the airport in time, and that the OTHER meal was all you hoped for!

Don't overdo muscling around stuff

I wound up hiring help for all the heavy stuff when I moved.

At some point, age catches up with all of us.

Alcohol and painkillers, be careful there!

Yep, age catches up with us

I've just swapped over my front and back rooms. There is a log fire in the back which will get well used this winter.
That and carrying 22 boxes of tiles upstairs (for the revamped bathroom), I am beginning to realise that stuff you did and never gave a thought to now just takes longer and ... Grrr I hate getting old.

Know the shoulder pain feeling

Angharad's picture

Have had a sore shoulder for the past few months, seeing my GP next week.

Hope you are both otherwise okay. Take care with the driving.

Angharad

thanks for the update

I was already wandering how live was treating you because of the wait for a new part of Julia. So thanks for informing us.

And as Kimmie already pointed at, wine and painkillers are most of the times not considered friendly companions, so please watch yourself :)

Yours, Leontine
