I imagine a video is out there on C-Span or some such as I watched one on Twitter describing the new things designed to help the veteran.
I know there are a many veterans who come to Bigcloset Topshelf. Even if you aren't a vet yourself but know one, please give them a heads up. And Veterans, on a personal note, be nice, courteous, and pleasant every single time you visit the VA. Take lots of paperwork with you because the rules might be out there for your benefit but the staff in the VA may not know or purposely NOT following them. I've been educating someone(s) virtually ever single time I go. I make sure I have paperwork to pass out and leave behind for what I desire from the VA. I've even been known to leave behind one of my novels or stories at times. It helps to be remembered as other than just another patient. Cultivate good feelings when one can.
Have fun with life, it's too short to take seriously. I know God has a sense of humor. He made me.

Nothing new really.
First, Thank you BarbieLee for posting this.
The Administration is making this sound like it's all new, however I have been doing this from home since 2013 (long before Trump decided to run for Potus). The only new thing here is the release of a smartphone app, which the VA said they were working on 3 years ago. The desktop app has been there for years, and all I've had to do to make or change an appointment is make a phone call. So it's politics as usually, the current administration trying to take credit for previous administrations' work.
Thanks again BarbieLee for posting this, as I'm sure many Veterans are unaware of this benefit.

the va
I've been used my laptop for a long time to older my meds. so this has been out there for a long time now I wish they do some thing about getting our compensation rated in quicker that would be great. it took my 25 years to get my rated for PTSD. thanks Bab for putting this up
the bigger issue is
removing the hiring freeze for the VA locations. i am located in Prescott, Arizona, one of the more popular destinations i am told due to our weather, not suburbs of hades hot, only above 100 for a week two at the most in summer, snow and rain etc.
a big issue is not enough bodies, i know several people who are working there NOW and most people there are overworked for the job. some arent, but even something like dental hygienists, nursing staff, etc. and of course 45 is the source of said freeze, not to mention budget cuts all over.

Until the general public wakes up to what veterans go through, nothing will change. In the meantime, we need to help each other.

VA and "video connect"
Among the other things other Vets have mentioned that were already in existence, the "video connect" might be new to the VA but it has been around in the civilian sector at least since 2001. scratch that, in 1997...... I had heart surgery with a specialist looking in via "video connect".
and I've been using the HealtheVet application (notebook, not stupid phone) since around 2011 or 2012 (maybe a year or two earlier).
If the Trump administration really wants to help the Vets then they might add at least another 50% to the numbers of doctors and nurses as well as shorten the wait time for an appointment to under two weeks (currently around four to six in Bend, Oregon).

VA Emergency
Two months ago I passed some blood. No it wasn't female thing. No biggie, interesting but not a problem, until it kept getting worse. Two days later I'm in serious pain when I pee. Talk about passing barbwire! Called the VA and told them I was coming and what the problem was. 170 miles one way, I check into the Emergency. I'm the only one there. An hour later three more had come and gone on in. Four hours later I see a nurse, they want a sample. Yep, it's bloody and hell yes I was still passing barbwire. Two hours later I meet a doctor and he wants an MRI. An hour after that he comes in, tells me it's kidney infection, writes a prescription and I check out. I'm the only one left in Emergency. First in, last out? 170 miles back home.
I'm in the bracket where they charge me $50 for each visit and $15 for meds. My family physician charges me $50 per visit and then meds are whatever Walmart gets. If I had known it was only a kidney infection I would have gone to David and saved myself a trip. I was scared it was something serious. I use David a heck of a lot more than the VA. He's close, he's prompt, 15 min or less, to see him, and I can usually get in within an hour of calling. I love small town doctors! Besides, I've known David forever. Maybe that makes a difference?
I'm not sure the VA has ever been an advantage to me? And everyone is right, their wait times are notoriously pathetic. Last year they did an operation on a hammer toe and they botched that one. It is worse than before they ever touched it. Unless I get it straightened up I'll never wear heels again. Oh well, I grew up in cowboy boots I can live with it.
My country doesn't owe me a thing.
