The red carpet
5 10 perfection
6 inch heels
New Star
New movie
Paparazzi frantic frenzy
The reveal
Reflex
Duran Duran
Retro beats keep time
With the sway of her hips
Tight sparkly red dress
Highlights lush curves
tight well turned ankles
traverse the red path
coyly looking over her shoulder
winking at her adorers
She strokes her faux mink
Damn he sighs
waking up in a pool of sweat
Only a dream

I like this. Most poems here are outpourings of personal feelings, and they're wonderful and obviously necessary for the poster as if it were their blog; you can't critique or dissect those without being something of a shit, but just empathize.
But this one was more of a scenario in free verse, a flight of imagination; a strobing montage of images (the flash of all those cameras) that cleverly told a story of the disconnect between dreams and reality. Damn says it all.
Still we can dream. And dreams shouldn't be underrated For a while there I couldn't even do that...

I enjoyed this
I don't think there's many poems on this site (I'll probably be told I'm wrong) but this is excellent; wonderful imagery with great economy of words.
