I have read Janet Stickney stories and from reading them, I have a few story ideas where a young man transitions into a woman. I need help to make sure that I am not plagarising her works. That is not my intent. No, having read her stories, I have wanted to write stories in a similar vein. Is there anybody that is willing to help?

My Thoughts

Been awhile since I read any of her works, but after reviewing the titles of Janet Stickney at FictionMania, my recollection is that her stories tend to involve maneuvering a teenage boy, often with the help or directly by the parents, in the feminine direction. Sometime these boys are curious about the path to begin with, but usually they do not fight against the result too heavily.

With that concept defined, it is important to start with a list of questions, similar to the start of any story:

  1. How long do you want the story to be?
  2. Who will be the driving force behind the change (mother, sister, aunt, employer...)?
  3. What will be the incentive to cause the change (punishment, trickery, curiosity...)?
  4. The boy (age, appearance, background, setting)?
  5. Is the boy curious to begin with, how much will he fight it? Will he accept it in the end?
  6. What will be done to change him (clothing, reversible, non-reversible...)?
  7. What is the moment of unveiling? Is it humiliating, wonderful? Do people laugh, or like him more?

There are surely more questions, to consider, but answering these may provide a good start.

Story Themes

I wouldn't be too worried about plagiarism in this field. There are only a few story lines to follow which you should be able to sort out simply by reading the various narratives on this website, stories developed from themes in circulation for a century or more. The trick is taking the same old ideas and reworking them with new twists. That will be the hardest part. All too often the stories sound alike making the reader wonder who has stolen from whom.

If you follow Edyn's advice you shouldn't have any trouble.

Can't Wait!

I too have always been a big fan of Janets' stories and would love to read new adventures along the same theme. Even have thought of a few story lines if you get blocked. Good luck.

Janet's works

The only real problem I have with a lot of her efforts is how easily and, sometimes, very young, the characters drop into having sex, or freely have sex. Just doesn't seem to be the right thing to me. But, I'm old.

Thank You For The Feedback To My New Story

I too am a Janet fan. She was the first author of T.G. fiction that I read. She is famous for her Jeff to Janet stories.

Summer Romance!

With the "Summer Romance" story contest starting, this would be a great time to post one of your stories following the lead of Janet Stickney. Always loved her stories that started with the main character that fell into a situation where he would be spending time as a girl and ended up being involved in a romantic situation with a boy. That was always made her stories great. Hope to see yours posted soon. Let me knowwhen where you post.
Sincerely,
Mark
