Mahatma Gandhi has been in the news somewhat this year, the 60th anniversary of his death. I came across an interesting observation about him.
As you probably know he walked barefoot most of the time, so his feet were extremely callused. He also ate very little, which led to his frailty and, with his odd diet, gave him bad breath. This made him a super callused fragile mystic hexed by halitosis.

Variation
This is the variation -- along with the looooong setup -- I use on friends. Doesn't work on the same folks more than once!
Randomly spout off to friends, "Ghandi never wore shoes."
Ignore all queries to explain, and go on with life.
An hour or so later, make the observation, "Mahatma Ghandi was a vegetarian."
This time, those around you will be more persistent with their questions, so you answer (seemingly nonsensically, and not explaining the first statement at all), "Well it's a proven fact that vegetarianism causes bad breath if it's not watched closely, and in India, there's not many shops that sell floss."
Again, ignore further inquiries and go on with life.
Later, once again spout your randomness, "Vegetarians need to eat more than those on a regular diet." Your compatriots will roll their eyes and ask you again about your Ghandi fixation, and you answer, "Well, with all of his hunger striking, the little guy just... stayed little. Delicate, even."
This time, when they cajole you for further info, go over what you've said.
"He was barefoot and so had tough feet, hunger striking so had a poor constitution, and a vegetarian so had bad breath."
Now look at them expectantly. A beamingly innocent smile helps.
They will either be confused or fed up, so explain, "That makes him a super-calloused-fragile-mystic-plagued-by-halitosis!"
I once took four weeks to set this up, instead of a few hours, as the group I was with only met once every 2 weeks. When I delivered the punchline, they laughed... then they chased me across the park and beat the shit outta me.
I like some Indian cuisine
but for supper curry-fried holistic eggs be all atrocious...

Ghandi was said to have slept with young naked women to prove to himself his ability to withstand temptation.
Hmmmm. I can see how this would serve as a self-improvement exercise. If he could get Mrs. Gandhi to believe that happy crap, he could do just about anything. Sort of Michael Jacksonish.
