Hello, I am new to this site and was wondering what some good stories on here were? Thanks to everybody who responds!

Some Authors You May Want To Check Out
Nagrij has a gift for effervescent, infectious prose and imaginative situations.
Morpheus has established a well-deserved reputation here and on other sites.
Drea De Maggio tackles the most difficult subject of them all - the breakdown in human relationships - with compassion but also with realism.
Kelly Blake writes beautifully. Like Sue Brown, she's a natural communicator.
These are just the authors who come immediately to mind. Apologies to the many talented individuals I haven't mentioned.
Depends on what you're looking for?
Male or female romantic interest? Romance, action, drama, comedy? Different authors here tend to excel at different things, with different enough writing styles to appeal (or not) to almost any reader.
Bailey Summers has interesting characters and engaging plots, but her stream of conscious style of writing can be a turn-off to some.
Angharad is our resident Soap writer, and boy howdy does she do it well! Look here for stories that will take you on the long haul.
Angela Rasch has a large number of different stories, ranging from the weird to the fluffy and romantic, with something that should appeal to everyone.
EnemyofFun writes a lot of very creative stories, from superheroes to monsters, and has helped to establish if not flat-out established a couple of the most popular multi-author universes on the site.
Shameless self promotion! I tend to write teen coming-of-age type stuff, though I also have a lot of short stories ranging from the macabre to the romantic, including some non-TG stuff thrown in for fun. I doubt anyone would consider me one of the BEST, but I've been here a long time, so there's a lot to make your way through!
Kaleigh Way has a lot of fun, adventure-filled stories with great humor.
And here's some other great authors, in no particular order: Morpheus, Jan S, Erin Halfelven, Donna Lamb/Adonna, Wanda Cunningham, Maddy Bell, Maggie Finson, Admiral Krunch, Zoe Taylor, Roberta J Cabot, and Faeriemage, just to name a few.
Delve into the author's list, and have a blast!

My own favorites
The Unicorn's Gift, by Sarah Lynn Morgan is my all time favorite for sweet, winsome stories. "Bike" is a great epic. Anything by Kelly Blake, for cleverness. "Tale of the Anari" is top notch Science Fiction, some of the best I have read. "Deception of Choice" is a story that helped me stay alive during a very harsh time.
Take your time, enjoy.
Don't forget to support the site financially.

So many already named
but also including everything by Randalynn. Gosh, there are so many terrific writers here. Katherine Day... Cyclist... Rasufelle... Laika.... Jennifer Brock and Kristine Roland... and so many more....

It varies. If you like full
It varies. If you like full rounded, finished, complete stories. I personally liked "Being Christina Chase" by Admiral Krunch, "Warrior from Batuk" from Aardvark ( though I liked "Sappho" -on Fictionmania- way better ), "Five Hertz of Separation" and "Severance Pay" from Meps98 are classics imho, "Camp Kumoniwanalaya" by Anistasia Allread was a good read, "Dancing on Daddy's Shoes" by Mark McDonald is very touching. "Tears.." trilogy by Melodie Thomas was wonderful. Julie O's "The Scholarship" was gOOd. "The Green Fog" is one of my favourites from Susan Brown. "The Reluctant..." series by Melanie Brown is a blast and a half. "Somewhere Else Entirely" by Penny Lane. How I enjoyed "Blue Moon" by Donna Lamb..
To name just a 'few' :)
And those are just the finished stories. There is also a number of realms you can explore, like the The DarkRealms Universe, the Comics Retcon Universe, The Center universe, Whateley Academy. Morphic Adaption Unit or MAU.
And of course we have a number of long term contributors that keep on adding stories which seem to keep on giving us joy and entertainment like Jem, Snakes & Ladders, Justice or Vengeance, The Knights of Death. And here I only name a very very few of all the valuable stories that grace this site.
An honourable mention should not be omitted for the tireless endeavour of Angharad with "Easy As Falling Of A Bike", which is, as unbelievable as it seems, still only a part of her productivity.
Gosh, and to know I only tipped a fraction of all the wonderful reading material on this site. The mind baffles..
Good luck hunting,
Jo-Anne
Angharad...
is less than a month away from completing her 3000th episode of EAFOAB!

I will be reading all summer

A couple that weren't
A couple that weren't mentioned are Louise Ann Smithson, and for multi-chapter stories, Bronwen Welsh
Or, do what I did
start with the first author in the author list and work your way through the stories and list.
it takes a long time, but you find some real treasures for yourself that way.
Stupidity is a capital offense. A summary not indictable.
I agree
I have done that several times. I would suggest the some series, like EAFOAB, are best read in stages. Just stop at the end of a story arc and read a few other stories and return. That way, it is not like eating steak every meal.
Noel, by Christopher Leeson
... among the many, many others
I have a small vested interest ...
... but think that "Somewhere Else Entirely" by Penny Lane is one of the best books I have ever read.
She has created a world called 'Anmar' and there have been 3 differing story threads set on this world written by Penny, the last is yet to be finished. The main story is, as mentioned, 'Somewhere Else Entirely', sometimes referred to as 'SEE', and her other two are 'AoJ' and 'WMD', which stands for 'Armsman of Joth' and 'What Milsy Did'.
Two other authors so far have also contributed to this world - myself and Di Wonder.
Everything you might wish to know can be found in here: http://www.bigclosetr.us/topshelf/book-page/59163/anmarian-a...
Each Book and Chapter can be linked to directly from the entry "Anmarian Tales Chapter Links, arranged by Author".
I strongly suggest that you read 'SEE' at least up to the point where Garia reaches Blackstone before you read anything else set here! Those appendices might contain spoilers if you search through them too avidly.
Angharad's on-going entertainment 'Easy As Falling Off A Bike' is a fascinating attention grabber. It will take a few weeks of your time to start at episode #1 and catch up to present, but many of us feel it is worth it. The official title of the series is as mentioned - Easy As etc etc, aka 'EAFOAB' - but is also known as the 'Daily Dormouse'. You will see why when you start reading it!
Cyclist has produced an array of interwoven stories which are so very compellingly written. In general, the tales are collected under the umbrella name 'Sussex Border'. This covers the majority of her tales, but please don't limit yourself to just those. Her currently continuing tale 'A Longer War' is a must-read for me as soon as the latest Chapter pops up.
Beverly Taff has also produced much good stuff, my favourite being 'The Angry Mermaid'.
And I find that to continue this list, I would just be repeating much of what your previous commenters have said.
Finally, I would like to welcome you to our 'little community' here.

Uhhh...
I was quite surprised, and humbled, to learn my name was mentioned twice. Whenever anyone asks 'who is a good writer' I always think of replying; 'start with the A's and continue from there'. There are so many excellent talents posting to this site that it is impossible to name even the 'top ten'.
Some of the writers were the initiates of posting this particular genre of writing to the web. Many of the writers have written the 'classics' of this genre. And many of the writers have raised the literary bar higher on this site than any other.
In comparison, I am still trying to write well enough to even see the 'bar'. I've always considered this site to be my 'home' site and have posted here first. I also would like to mention that more than a few of the names listed 'In Memoriam' are literary giants of this genre and deserve to be known amongst the best.
May We All Know Peace of Heart...
Kelly
there are some awesome authors here
no list I could make could cover all of them.
But not mentioned yet is Tels' "The trip home". (Although since she's my friend, I'm a tad biased)
