I HATE POSTING!!! It takes more time to get all the right crap done and checked than to write the tale and I still don't know how to list my tales as solo. And...too add insult to injury...my S.O. says puters 'are a he thing'. I don't know whether to smack him or kiss him...or both!!! So there...!!!

How to mark something solo...

erin's picture

Easiest way is to wait for one of the staff to do it for you.

Second easiest is to click on the three little asterisks at the end of the line underneath your post. Also click on the word Ongoing that appears in that same line. Be aware that if one of the staff looks at your posting and decides it is not a SOLO (drabbles, fanfic, non-fic, poetry and serials do not qualify) then your marking may be undone.

As for all the stuff needed to post your story, more than 80% is so that people who might like to read your story can find it.

Hugs,
Erin

Thank you so much Erin. I

Thank you so much Erin. I would never have figured it out so I'm going to leave it up to you and your people.

Sincerely,

Kelly the Frustrated :D

Hate to say it

We don't make it obvious how to mark a SOLO because it doesn't save us much work. We still have to check. If it's marked correctly, it saves us a couple of clicks, that's all.

"You are not authorized..."

Sara Selvig's picture

Apparently I tried to read it while it was still in flux. My first reaction to the "You are not authorized..." message was, "*%##! Which hoop did I miss jumping through this time?"

Clear differentiation between "You aren't authorized..." and "It isn't really ready yet ..." would be helpful for those of us who perceive literally.

Hugs,

Sara

No idea

erin's picture

No idea what happened there so no idea how to control the message. You should have been able to access the stuff unless you were trying to edit it. If it has been entered, it is there to be viewed so there is NO "it isn't really ready yet" message to control. Perhaps our firewall stopped you for some reason related to a glitch in your connection.

... or a collision?

Sara Selvig's picture

Since it was clearly a BCTS message, perhaps it was a collision between two processes, one writing and one reading. Whatever the cause, when I backed up and made another run at it, my attempt to read was successful. :)

To the author... since I read with my ears rather than my eyes, THANK YOU for NOT putting the title and page number on each page of the pdf! My simple minded text to speech engine can't tell the difference. Page numbers and story titles inserted in the middle of sentences really messes the flow of the story!

So, hugs all around! :)

Metaphorically

Metaphorically smack him. Unless he was able to solve your problem. Kiss him in that case.

I agree, it takes a long time to go through all the entries on the posting page. Although I can't agree that it takes longer than writing the tale for me. I'm such a slow writer. (I'm still in the middle of a couple sequels.)
