The Boston Globe has an article in today's (May 5) paper about a local traffic reporter who has started using her female name to end her on air reports.

refreshing change

refreshing change. An everyday person that is able to go about HER business. I'd agree with the official statement; it does seem like an actually 'best case scenario'. I'm glad its going well for her.

Guts

that what it takes to transition more guts than most of the haters will ever have . All I will say is you go girl to that reporter .
also nice the station is standing behind her and she did not get fired

congrats to her!

The sad thing is I can see the Boston media ripping he to shreds behind her back. They are vicious and are not afraid to go after each other to one-up their rivals. She has to have thick skin and let others make mistakes because anything she does will be under scrutiny and ready for pouncing.

And that's just as a normal reporter. Her gender change is a whole other thing that I hope corporate at Entercom, Sunbeam, Hearst, Cox, and the other owners are on top of because this could get ugly.

Traffic reporter

I dunno, is a traffic reporter that big a deal in Boston? Because around here it amounts to one foot out the door. Not much glory to be had taking down a traffic reporter. If the money gets tight that position is the first to get cut.

I went outside once. The graphics weren' that great.

To make a name for themselves

To make a name for themselves they would. I've been to too many crime scenes, fires, special events to not have that pessimistic view of our reporters in this market. If there is viewers to be had, the news directors will go after you for a story negative or not.

WBZ

Not too many people try to take on WBZ. They are a well-liked News Station and WBZ News is the number one for the Evening News shows on the local TV market. Fairly sure that the Boston Globe would not be happy if one of their Reporters went after Kristen. Not too sure on the Herald though but I think they would think twice as well.
