Some interesting nuggets of information have been revealed by the Tavistock Clinic.

The number of young people referred to England's only gender identity clinic for under-18s has doubled in the past year to nearly 1,400, figures show. The data also shows that nearly twice as many biological girls than boys were referred to London's Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust last year.

Back in 2009/10, there were a total of 97 referrals - 40 AFAB, 56 AMAB, 1 counselling for the child of a TG parent.
In 2015/16, there were a total of 1,398 referrals - 913 AFAB, 485 AMAB.
"The number of referrals increased by 50% in every subsequent year until 2015/16, when there was a 100% rise in referrals, from 697 in 2014/15."

A better treatment protocol

I am coming round to the feeling that hormones and SRS is not the ultimate solution, but until society changes a bit, the devastation will continue.

I don't know for sure about

I don't know for sure about British society, but I know American society values maleness and masculinity a lot more than femaleness and/or femininity. (I faced a lot of bullying/beatings, some of it explicitly transmisogynistic bullying, growing up.) I suspect that's why they're seeing so many trans boys, and probably some cis girls among them, and so few trans girls.
