I enjoy reading and thanks to my father from a young age have had a love of science fiction.
I was asked recently what my preference was, I spent a lot of time thinking about this
The answer I came up with is depending on my mood the genre of story changes.
Fantasy, Real Life, Alternate Reality or Magic/Mystical.
But what really had me scratching my head was Sci/Fi, until I realised that technically all stories here are Sci/Fi by definition.
Whether the science involves Nanotech or something more mundane (everyday) like medical science, even the ones that include magic.
Medical Science
Psychology/Psychiatry - Mind
Endocrinology - Biology of the body
Surgical - Physical Body
or something we take for granted like cell phones and computers.

Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.
So, most science fiction is also fantasy, and vice versa. :-)
Not all sci-fi
Simple cross-dressing stories do not require any kind of sci-fi.
I put a Real Life tag against many of my stories, meaning that there's no magic and no sci-fi. However, there may be devices which cannot be purchased off the shelf, but that doesn't mean it's beyond the bounds of current scientific knowledge.
God! I'm slow this morning
At first i couldnt see how Magic/Fantasy were also Sci-Fi....yeah im slow this morning, leave me alone im still drinking my coffee!!
Magic/Fantasy are a subcatagory of Sci-fi, took me almost 10 minutes to remember this.
But i agree, some of the Real-Life tags that are here are just plain Fiction.
