I am wondering what happened to all the non whately stories that were on the crystalhall.org website, they have not moved a lot of it to the new site. So is there a way to get access to those stories?

The MIC has said they will not be moving any of the fanfics to the new site. So your options are if the original author decides to resubmit them or somebody has saved the story you're looking for. Good Luck

PS: I would expect the same would apply to any non-Whateley stories. The only stories that got moved are the canon stories, according to what has been said. Apparently the reformatting required to move things is/was tedious and labor-intensive.

I went outside once. The graphics weren' that great.

Non-Whateley stories on CH.org...

If you mean the library stories, they are coming. The crew had a lot to convert.

That is what I was hoping to here.

The library stories are what I was extremely worried about not coming back, because some of the cannon authors only published those stories on crystalhall.org So it is good to here they will be coming back. I had found ways to access them through the internet way back machine but was hoping they would be easy to access again.

The new site has some of the stories

The new site has some of the stories reposted. Look under "Stories" to see tabs for the "Original Timeline", "2nd Gen Canon", "Featured Fan Fiction", and "Library". Yes, not all of the stories are available. But, they will like be added in the coming months. Look under "Community" to get to the forums. The forums have some of the old fan fiction reposted. There are also new fan fiction in the forums.

Are you looking for a specific story?

the wayback machine is your friend.

Remember to thank friend computer.

I think the reasoning they aren't moving the fanfiction is that they have no explicit permission to from the authors of the fanfics.

Partly

Ya, property control is part of the reason. The other is that recovery and reproduction of stories as posted in the forums from corrupted database files would involve an enormous amount of work. And we can either work on recovering old data... or writing new stories.

We hope that most of the fan fic authors who posted stories on the old forums will either get around to reposting on the new site... or that they've posted them elsewhere. I know a lot of people have posted on BCTS or FM over the years with WU Fan fic, much of which started out on the forums. I've got a program in place now that allows fan fic authors to compile a 'refined/complete' version of their work for 'official' publication... with its own section on the site, similar to the Library section. They'll still have use of the fan fiction section of the forums to workshop/preview ideas... but the more solid, completed ones can then be moved to where more people can enjoy them and recognize the authors for their work. In the long run, I hope to be able to turn that program over completely to the community... giving editorial and publishing control over what gets posted to senior members of the fan fic authors, but for the moment; I'm still holding the reins on that (and being the bottleneck, unfortunately).

But, as far as the original question: yes, if you're referring to the Library section; we're intending to restore everything there. We just burnt ourselves out a bit rushing to get all the canon stuff migrated over when the old server had to be shut down. There are 10-12 stories in process of being properly sorted into the Library in my to-do list right now, that I will probably get to either tomorrow or Monday. The rest will come as people have time to move them. :)

The way back machine is a life saver for this site and others where authors that are writing great stories, and then are driven off because of "Trolls" a.k.a. "Internet Scum" a.k.a. "Cyber Bullies" etc... Drive them off and the pull all there stories.

I miss you LightOfFury please come back.

Library stories now Migrated to new site

Hi All,

http://whateleyacademy.net/index.php/the-library now has the stories from the old site migrated to it. Migrating the canon stories has finished too, so it no longer necessary to use the Way Back Machine and other sites to re-read the old stories.

crystal hall.org still has not been re-directed to the new site, but feel free to use http://whateleyacademy.net in the meantime.
