I've managed a few thousand words of Tammy's tales since I rejoined BCTS earlier this month, but I did have plenty of free time available.
It now looks like I have to spend a few days with my brother who has suffered a major PC failure and can't recover his data from his old hard disc. That means a trip to the far side of London, probably tomorrow.
In the meantime, I now have a new laptop and it's running through the Windows 10 signup routine as I type but once that's complete I'll reboot it and install Fedora Linux. Then I have the fun of copying the config from my existing laptop!
All these things conspire against the time necessary to write. If I do find any free time, by the way, Unaccounted Gains should get a fresh chapter.

I beg to differ, the way you unraveled the story it is actually becoming quite intriguing. You left so many questions unanswered and have so many things that could happen to the characters that it left us wanting more.
Case in point, you left at least four cliffhangers for us: mom's mental health, Eve's operation, Eve's relationship with Claire, and reaction at school to Eve living fulltime as a girl. Plus you have the legal issues that Eve discovered with the hospital and the lingering trouble with the town's resident bigots.
Just a thought, I hate that this great series hasn't finished with all questions answered yet :(

Why Fedora?
As a past contibutor to the Fedora project, I'm always pleased when people choose it however, it is a bleeding edge for a reason. Why not use CentOS 7? Long term support rather than the 12-15 months with Fedora.

I've been using Fedora/FC since Red Hat 9 went end-of-life. I run a home server that I also need as a fully fledged desktop/media player - Fedora can do this easily but others lean too far towards either server or desktop. My laptops can all SSH/SFTP/UUCP into the server locally or remotely without any trouble, again this is something that some distros can't handle out of the box.
Of course, there are some issues with a bleedin' edge distro but I can brew my own code easily, fixes are usually quick and I can always downgrade to an earlier release if there's a major compatibility issue.
I suppose familiarity helps, but my mother is running F22 with a Mate desktop and uses it without problems, as does my 14yo daughter (inc all her school work) who has F22 and Gnome 3
My issue today is trying to install F23 onto a UEFI Asus laptop. An F22 disc got the furthest into the initialisation then froze, just like all the F23 discs. Maybe I'll try 32bit next?

OS Selection
I went through the same rigamarole trying to find something that I liked and didn't change too often. I went through Red Hat and Fedora, tried CentOS and Scientific OS, Mandrake/Mandriva and Unbuntu and really wasn't satisfied with any of them.
I have finally settled on plain Debian. All my servers and workstations run Debian which is a dead easy network install with a USB stick. My main server also runs LTSP with the LXDE desktop, which means I can use (cheap) diskless workstations as terminals and something that looks like Gnome II as a desktop while the big noisy box stays in the cupboard. We even use an old laptop for a terminal by just netbooting with F12.
I've never had a single problem installing Debian onto any of my hardware. The only wrinkle is using the NVidia blob where I have their cards.
