Confused (As usual)
I have to admit, this blonde just doesn't get what is supposed to be here or what the layout is supposed to look like. But this I do know, blue text on a black background is very hard on my eyes and would quickly give me a headache. So a more conventional color scheme would be better, IMHO.

err... Black background?
I didn't use a black background... hmm... better now?
Oh, yes!
I can see things now that weren't visable before, and it makes much more sense. Ah-h, we-l-l, except for "Flagship Title".
Wassat?

Very cool! I like it!
Title page stuff
I have one small suggestion. Is it possible or would it be convienient to have a small description of what the story is about added to the page?
for example:
Sk8r Grrls:
a heart warming tale about fraternal twins and their friends who have a secret, one of the twins was born a boy.
Or something to that effect
The idea is...
I point people at TopShelf all the time. Most of them aren't "into" the TG genre, I just point them at REALLY good stories. Christina Chase, Kumoni, Marcie Donner, Shoes, Leeway... just to name a few. The UNIVERSAL complaint has been difficulty in finding the beginnings of stories if they're broken up into parts, or other stuff by the same author. This is meant to fix that.

Oh
Guess that leaves out a single column version with annotations. I have a few things that must be read in context of the original story, but it would be necessary to explain the circumstances.

Maybe both
I mean, there could be a way to have both, and a link between the two.
Can't find the beginning of stories?
In multi-part stories the beginning of the series has a link in the top of the right hand column. I just don't see how to make that much easier. And I don't see how this, or any other layout, will help.
Some people want Coca Cola when you give them wine.

Ummmm, good!
Is that red or white wine with the Coke? ;-)

Quick Question
Before coming up with an design that I think would work well with my type of story make-up I need to check upon one thing. Do you see this page being something generated from the database (based upon additional author page parameters attached to stories)? Or would it be something authors would manage mostly upon their own?
My idea ...
... is that author's would manage it by filling in blanks on a form I would create.

Ah-Hah A Form
That makes sense, since it will provide consistency between authors. My vision would utilize tables, which are so wonderful to my logical mind, though it may be impossible with the software.
I visualize two types of rows:
However, since things like size, categories, key words, descriptions are not attached, I do not know if I would like this to be my main author page. Instead, I would likely prefer that it be linked from my current author page or be made as a new type of content, always listed first on my current page.
The above IS a table, Arcie...
I've just turned off the borders
I Understand That
Just as with your shortcuts, which I think should be the model for author pages, uses a table. But I was wondering if tables fit in with Erin's concept of a form, since I have often found forms lacking in more advanced controls like tables.
With the right CSS
Forms and tables are a great couple. May the marriage of the two be given to debauchery.
