I know this is going to sound a bit like I haven't even used google...
but to be honest, due to many issues I have (from hf autism to my thin skin to my inability to put up with crap from anyone) I havent found a single place where I can talk to others with this birth defect (transexual) in a comfortable setting over the net. Ive tried many, and googled much, but I never seem to find a place where I can discuss things that the genetic women don't understand.
The biggest problem I have had with the places I go is that the rules seem to be a huge double standard, and the ops/admins seem to have gone power mad... I don't understand it, and am not sure I ever will. But Ive come to the realization that no matter how much I get past, I still need others to talk to that can understand this like only those that have gone through it can.
I know just using this nickname will clue some of the folks in the places Ive been in the past in to me having been there and to who I am, but it is my name, and who I am (which has a much deeper meaning especially to me). All I can say is if you know me from somewhere online and I have angered you, I am sorry.

Why do you refer to...
... TS as a birth defect? I'm not trying to criticize. I'm trying to understand. I see it more as "how it is" and something that isn't willingly accepted by part of society, but not a "defect" (though, one who is TS probalby believes there's a birth defect... :-) ).

I refer to it as that simply because it is. I don't want to start an argument over it, so consider all of this firmly IMO (in my opinion).
There is tons of scientific semi-proof that it is definitely a birth defect, if it was not such a soceitally shunned issue, it would be considered as one. There is a lot more research then most people realize out there, including one I just heard of from my best friend in austrailia about genetic profiling study still going on that seems to be so far showing a very specific genetic marker for predisposition to it.
Emotionally-loaded term
The phrase "birth defect" comes with so much emotional baggage that many are not going to view its use in regard to them in a favorable light. I have Cystic Fibrosis, and trust me when I say that "birth defect" does not accurately label either it or my being TS. Genetic disease is an appropriate term for CF, but for something like transsexuality, to label it as a genetic anything based one study not yet completed or reviewed is jumping the gun. As for a genetic marker, that is not the same as a disease or defect. There are genetic markers for hair color, and I'm sure at some time we will be able to "read" those markers and determine a genetic disposition for say, red hair. But that does not make red hair a birth defect.
I'm not trying to pick a fight with you, but you have to understand that when you use terms that are emotionally loaded such as "birth defect", you are pushing buttons in some people, and they are going to react. You may use whatever term you like.

Parents' support group?
I have a seven year old child who may be TS. I would like to talk to other people (TS and parents of TS) so that I can do a better job of helping my little boy (maybe girl) grow up to be a the best person possible.
The groups that I saw in yahoo groups seem to be interested in excluding those who don't suffer from GID themselves. I can respect their desire for privacy, but it also serves to isolate them.

Time Of Day Issues
Try later on this afternoon. I've noticed the chatroom isn't very busy until late afternoon / early evening, US Eastern time. Most chatrooms have their active times. You just have to figure out which they are.
I've been back there several times recently, and had some very nice conversations, but like I said, it's a bit hit or miss for time of day. If you're not busy, just hang out for an hour and say hello to anyone new who shows up after you. You can probably find someone to talk to.
