It seems that Ontario will cover SRS under their medical coverage.

If it's still required to go

If it's still required to go through CAMH (formerly Clark Center), then, trust me, getting a second or third job is the better option. Clark has had a fairly long and notorious history, and when it comes to the transgendered, it has barely improved past the days of electro-therapy. Dr Zucker is the head of 'our' department there, and he's got quite a few strikes against him as well, which is one of the reasons for a lot of the concern over him being appointed to the DSM committee.

Don't get me wrong, it's great that it's been reinstated, and it's a big achievement for Ontario's trans* community, but if it comes with camh as a requirement, it's a bitter victory. But lobbying and letter writing can always be done to try and change things, if camh is the required center to go through.

CAMH / Clark

Edeyn A friend of mine tells horror stories of the place. One of the actually for-real-and-for-true serious questions they asked her: "Do you plan on wearing jeans and slacks after transitioning?"

*blinkblink*

When she answered in the affirmative, they tsk'd at her and made notes and a fuss. Mind you, they were both women wearing slacks themselves!

Wasn't it Jim Henson who said, "Without faith, I am nothing," after all? No, wait, that was God... Sorry, common mistake to make...

Adam and Eve

This reminds me of the two children in the art museum, standing in front of a painting of Adam and Eve.

The little boy asks which is which.

"Silly!" the girl says, "They'd have to have their clothes on for us to tell!"
