Happy fucking birthday to me - NOT. got until Sunday to get better, but there are NO signs that it will, so this will be another bleh birthday. At least it won't be one that my mom totally forgets about, but ....
Work - sucks. career ruined by a boss who hated me, sidelined me, has the whole team shunning me, blocked two transfers, and basically is forcing a huge 'experience' hole in my resume that has already adversely affected some transfers to other parts of the organization (would have been promotions that they CANNOT block). No new possibilities on the horizon. It's hugely stressful to be sidelined for almost a year, knowing I'm capable, but am being shunned and sabotaged.
Family - kids are teenagers, so they're in the stage of life where I'm irrelevant. Wife? we're friends, but ... yeah. She's very devoted to work (gets awards and such - I'm very proud of her) and daughter's extra-curricular activities, so ... not much left for me right now. At least I have a dog that loves me no matter what.
Announced a few stories in the queue for Whateley, and got a "meh" response. Like people care about my writing....
I'm really down right now, and just want to say "screw it" for a few days, because it just feels like I don't matter to anyone, anywhere...
Not looking for pity or false sympathy. I just know this is a place I can vent and not get made fun of. And I appreciate that.
Comments
I am sorry for your pain.
I hope that things will turn around for you soon. I got drummed out of my job in 2003, but I was so done with all the crap that in the long run it did not matter to me.
Get well soon.
Gwen
Happy birthday
Life can really suck sometimes, the past 2 years has been hell for me and my spouse, and one of the things that keep me going is the escape from reality that i find thanks to the authors on BC.
Having just read the entire Kayda series in the past few days, i'll apologise now for not leaving comments, i should have because the series to date has been superb, i was reading in bed till i fell asleep from exhaustion 2 nights in a row.
i haven't read a whole lot of your stuff, i don't know why, but i will be rectifying that oversight.
I hope things improve for you *hugs* from downunder.
Totally get the work thing.
Got the same problem with work
Been there, done that ...
Best way out, a change of obsession for awhile. As for for a couple being more best friends, I consider that a good result out of so many worse alternatives.
I get it. Been a contractor
I get it. Been a contractor for Hospice for 6 months, they want a recruiter and every VP and Director is liking what I do but I find out they are interviewing other people for the position over me, probably job shopping again before Nov. begins. Daughter finishing up Cosmetology School then moving back up to PA to live with her Mom again so I got 2.5 years at least with her. My son love him but is a Lazy Putz living with his girlfriend and I calculated that I have spent $129600.00 on rent since 2003 that would have been nice if I owned a home... But one thing I truly enjoy is almost every Tuesday You or E.E. (sometimes someone else) gets a new Whateley Story posted and I have something awesome to read.
I love your stuff
I don't usually comment but I do try to at least give it a thumbs up. I enjoy your work really enjoyed the stories you've done with E.E was heartbroken at the end of the first chap of RoSP at Jamie's murder, then at the end when Sara was never freed. But I really like your stuff.
I hope
that you feel better. its always great if someone just acknowledges the day ( so happy birthday). I love your work, although with my work schedule i'm little behind on the new Whateley stuff, I will catch up so please continue. take care and thanks
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
You're one of the best writers out there, and if your Whateley stuff is any indication, only getting better.

Happy birthday
And don't be mad on your life - it will change one way or another.
Happy Birthday
Sorry. We get so used to seeing some writers consistently produce such excellent work that we forget the ŕeason people post here is generally for the feedback. That, and money to support the infrastructure where possible :-), is the very least that we should give in return for the plessure and insight you give us.
For my own part, all I can offer by way of excuse is an ill partner, a new house and my own lousy work experience.
You are held in higher esteem than you probably realise.
I hope the coming year shows you that more tthan the year that has gone.
Happy birthday (in advance)
There's not much you can do about your work situation (except hope / pray your boss gets a message from On High that he's going to be redeployed, decides to seek promotion to a higher echelon of management, or he spots a lucrative position at another company), but if there are any opportunities to do more than what's expected of you or gain new skills / experience, grab them with both hands - while they may not currently benefit you, they can be added to your CV so when your boss eventually does move on, you can quickly prove your capabilities to his successor.
As for Whateley, the 'meh' response may have been twofold: (a) the forums are only just back up and running, so it's going to be a while before everyone reutrns and discovers they're functional again, and (b) you've been so prolific recently that you and EE have essentially been propping up the universe - people almost expect to see something by one of you two each week. So in a way you could say you've been the victim of your own success, as there's less anticipation than there would be for a new chapter of Whisper or something by the other members of the Cabal ( TINCC ). Just wait until the tales go live and watch the feedback thread - then you'll get your reward :)
As the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body, then only left-handers are in their right mind!
Early happy birthday
I have always enjoyed your stories. I can't wait to read more tales you have come up with about Kayda and her adventures, along with any other work you release. And I hope you feel better in time for your birthday. Happy [early] birthday, Elrod.
Best wishes
Best wishes for you on your birthday to one of the best authors that I enjoy reading their stories! Yes I know it's early, but, it's an improvement as usually I am late getting to these things. Take care and have a GREAT day!
