Some forum- and content-management packages offer “spoiler” markup tags, which insert a bit of code to hide the designated content behind a “clickable” link. Some packages allow the poster to specify the link text, by means of [spoiler="some text"]...[/spoiler]. A quick search reveals that a Drupal spoiler module exists; there is even a video that describes how to configure it.
Over at the Crystal Hall (official Whateley site) forum, posters use the “spoiler” feature to hide any manner of content that may be disagreeable or too lengthy, sometimes use it for humorous effect, and for any other purpose that imagination can conjure. My question is, if Erin & Co. could be persuaded to install it, would anyone actually use it? Thoughts? Votes?
Sort-of already available
If you use the "S-button" on the format bar, it makes the text white to more-or-less match the background and adds the "Highlight to read" note.

Clearly it doesn't work quite as well when the background of your comment is blue!
Blue backgrounds
This is a relatively new thing, on alternate comments, brought in when the site was redesigned.
It did work previously when the backgrounds were all white.
Perhaps the feature needs to be changed so that text color=background color rather than text color=white?

That's what the 'spoilers' module does...
…in cases where the browser does not support JavaScript (or where it is just turned off). Otherwise, the background color will probably also depend upon which theme the (logged in) user has selected.
So, if the feature were available, would you use it? I see so many occasions where people went out of their way not to put spoilers in their comments…
