A few months ago I began a quest. A quest to make transgender fiction less marginalized and give it the respect that it deserves. A quest to show that transgender fiction is not only about erotica and men being turned into sex starved bimbos that live only as caricatures of what a woman is. The goal was to make Amazon recognized that there were far more genres that transgender literature fit into outside of erotica and biographies.

I was told not to bother. I was told that it wasn't necessary. I was told I was wasting my time. I rarely listen to what I am told anyway, but most people already know that. At first, I contacted Amazon. Then I ran a petition at change.org. Then I had more conversations with Amazon, letter writing, fact finding, showing how non-erotica authors have sold. And finally, it just happened. Without any word, the genres appeared.

Heather O'Malley and Lana Lee have gotten number 1 in LGBT sci-fi, but perhaps that don't realize that genre didn't exist a few months ago. They are proud of their accomplishments, and they should be, it's a big genre than people think with a lot more books than just the top 100. Their pride makes me happy because this is what I sought. I wanted transgender writers to get the recognition they deserve. The rankings also drive sales and I'm sure they have gotten double or triple the sales they would have without the genre.

Then there's the new Transgender Romance genre. Warms my heart. I don't write many romances. I think I have two OEM and the new ED treatment and though they probably will never be ranked, it is nice to know that they had the opportunity. There's also a LGBT crime genre too, which I'm sure Tanya Allan will enjoy.

So I'm glad to have done something positive. Hopefully some opinions may change about me.
